Learn rendering with a transparent background in Maya with Arnold. (rebusfarm.net/...)
Usually, the PNG format can save the channel transparency, but not when using batch rendering in Maya with Arnold. Just make sure to use TIFF or EXR as a format, to avoid any possible issues when using RebusFarm, since these formats support transparency when using Batch Rendering in Maya.

it is a pathetic situation MAYA and ARNOLD are unable to solve transparencies in batch rendering mode/ Extremely sad, disappointing and bad state of affairs, driving presumably many people away from maya, arnold...

@@rossdanielart absolutely using TIFF for all my png-esque needs, THEN convert to png as needed. However, the FOG with the light stuck in it, as needed, is not rendering. It is only rendering on the object surfaces. It doesn't render in empty space, so to speak! However, I have tried to use aiShadowMatte, and partially managed to achive the desired effect. If you will manage to find any work flow that allows for the fog light to render in space, i'd be delighted! Cheers and thanks for hte reply!

@@alldittogames I'm not sure what you mean by a "fog light" but if you are talking about volumetric light then you must have an aiAtmosphereVolume in the scene to see the volume rays of any light. (render settings>arnold renderer tab >"Environment" dropdown) Then you would have to reduce the density to suit your needs. set density to like 0.010 and a darker greenish blue color always looks good.

@@rossdanielart hiya, thanks for engaging further. Yes, i am/was using ai atmos volume and the problem persisted, however, i used values of 01 upwards to 1, which did not work. Will try using now 0.010 but the feeling is again that it will nto work. I guess if it is not working with HIGHER volume, higher density, MORE illumination and illuminated particles, what is the chance of it to work with a 0.01 OR 0,0001 or any other magnitude figures. But I will try nevertheless. If you have got time to MODEL the issue at your end, will be MOST grateful and you could certainly keep this question and an answer (if you are successful modelling and resolving it) for one of your next videos.

@@alldittogames You'll probably have to send me the scene. and you must also make sure that the volume is up on the light under the visibility dropdown and volume indirect up in the render settings.
