Gail is on the Mount Rushmore of Women's Wrestling. Right there with Trish and Lita. She is a legend.
@rriggs65472 жыл бұрын
Honestly, Gail is the only woman from the West I would have on there. Madusa would be a close fifth. As much as I like Trish and Lita I don't think they had the impact in moving women's wrestling forward like some others do.
@omarcoronado22242 жыл бұрын
@@rriggs6547 they have paved the way for alot of women and are the reason alot of people inspired them to wrestler so they've made a huge impact they also actually wanted to fight in the RUTHLESS AGGRESSION era unlike the women before and after (until 2013) also are the msot known women in wrestler for almost 20 years
@rriggs65472 жыл бұрын
@@omarcoronado2224 They had an impact certainly. And much more than most others. But all of their impact was in the West. While Trish and Lita were doing well in WWE, Toyta and Aja Kong and Hokuta were selling out women's mega shows. If we are just doing a list from the West, then I would put Gail, Madusa, Trish and Lita. But Gail took women's wrestling and got people to think of it as wrestling instead of women's wrestling. You can't watch a Trish match without hearing Lawler scream about 'puppies' or remember her having to kiss Vince's @$$ or remember her being McMahon's mistress. Or Lita doing the 'live sex' on TV with Edge. And this drops them down a lot in my book. Still far above most in the West, but that made women's wrestling look really bad.

Don't forget Awesome Kong. Without her, there is no Gail Kim.

Fun interview, I still don't get why she is married to a cook and he never cooks, wondering what the real story is there. She really was one of the best wrestlers in the world in her prime I bet she could still go if she wanted to. I was thinking the same thing everybody is always in a rush for WWE free agents to go to AEW but Taya and Mia I always thought of as Impact wrestlers who happened to go to WWE. I never thought of them as WWE wrestlers, not that their booking helped, but they would be great returning to Impact. In a lot of ways I always thought of Mia Yim as the successor to Gail Kim and was briefly given the torch during their feud.

For me Gail was the best technical wrestler on any women's division. It is a fucking shame WWE didn't know what to do with her. But she was exceptional in TNA and her character was on point. Her in ring skills got even better as she got older. Her mic skills were good as well. And she put over a lot of young talent. Absloute legend in the business. We talk about women's revolution and we never fail to mention the likes of Trish, Lita, Becky, Sasha. But for me she is the unsung hero of the revolution. She has done it for well over a decade and her longevity speaks for itself. Put respect on her name. 💯💯

Thank you for this interview. I think Gail is one of the most influential women to Western wrestling over the past 20 years. She is absolutely amazing. Before I knew of Manami Toyota and Akira Hokuta and the Japanese legends she was the reason I started to watch women's wrestling. (I am not a big fan of women wrestlers used purely for their looks.) Gail took over from Madusa and elevated real women's wrestling while some places were shoving models down our throats. I don't mind models if they are willing to put in the work, but most of them did not.

@rriggs65472 жыл бұрын
@@beebeecee669 Again, made it big is a matter of opinion. But WWE has had several Asian wrestlers spend time there who are considered legends in Japan. They were all jobbers in WWE. Probably the best use of someone Asian in WWE was Jimmy Wang Yang and that was his third stint in WWE. But when it is well documented that Vince didn't push Gail because he didn't think anyone could be attracted to her because she is of Asian decent says everything you need to know.

WWE are very egotistical in the sense that if you didn't make a big enough name for yourself there then nobody's going to know you and they don't acknowledge the reputation an individual built up outside of the WWE bubble which is probably why Gail didn't get invited to the Evolution PPV or the first all women's rumble.
