"Down" by Kevin K. O. Olusola is a pop cover with Beat Boxing and the Cello..but it's got full on singing.. it's mind blowing genius how he does it, and it's more recent.. so shows his growth. That said, this is a great celloboxing number.. and his beginning vocals were downright haunting!

Video #2. And away we go!! This is one of his earlier songs. Just wait until you get to "Sign of the Times" and "Down". Those are the most insane in my opinion. I mean, you can't go wrong with anything Kevin does but those are my personal favorites that show his wide range of talents in one song.

"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is still my favorite KOver. He demonstrates how he puts the entire thing together. Cello, keyboard, percussion and vocals. It's amazing.

*cello-boxing* .... Oh K.O ...What a STAR!!😎 And to think he was going to be a doctor having just graduated Pre-Med, when Scott contacted him to join him and his friends to audition for The Sing Off! Kevin said his parents were disappointed with his choice ( the Olusula's are ALL in the medical field..His father and younger brother are Doctors, his younger sister is a pharmacist I think his mother is a therapist) His parents/family are VERY HAPPY with his musical success and seem like the nicest people!!☺

Kevin was a world-class cellist by the time he was a teenager, even playing Carnegie Hall when he was still in high school. And just in case no one else has told you, his last name is pronounced Oh-LOO-Sho-La.

Down! Down! Down! You won't regret it! (Sign of the Times is a close second for me.) Renegade is amazing, and a fabulous example of his celloboxing. Down & his other KOvers take it to a whole new level. He uses looping to astounding effect, and just...it's so mind-blowing.

Yes! I agree! The first time I ever listened to Kevin perform this, I heard Eleanor Rigby too! My wish list for your collection of individual members of Pentatonix whether it be solo or in collab with some other person is: Kristin: Her live performance of "Break A Little" at Shadowlands Ranch is great and proof that she does not need auto tune to achieve that incredible gift of being to use vibrato with transition in such a precise way. Listen to when she sings the second round of "I call you" in the chorus. Simply amazing! My fav Scott Hoying one is the collab he has out with Rozi Crane "Lose Us". My favorite Mitch one is his Zedd cover of "Find You" collab with Evan Duffy. My favorite Avi song is his original "Fields and Pier" which has Kevin playing his cello softly and Avi perfectly matches his pitch to the cello so they weave a magical sound. I don't know of any solo Matt work, but as talented as he is, I am sure there will be plenty out there before too long! Truly enjoy this musical trip with you. Great job!

that look at 3:45 at 4:02 and again at 6:42 are priceless. And you sitting there jamming makes this a great reaction. As another reactor has said about Kevin, he is a robot alien genius. So glad you enjoyed it. Your reaction is enjoyable whenever I get to check you out. Oh and just a heads up, Kevin has been involved on 3 #1 EPs on Itunes. His Renegade EP went to #1 on the classical charts. His collaboration with the group called Tryptyc went to #1 on the alternative charts, and of course the Pentatonix album went to #1 on the pop charts.

I think there are many people who don't appreciate how difficult to play this piece is. It seems like more than half of his notes are double tones... He does that live. That is not layered tracks. That is him playing 2 tones with 1 bow and 2 finger positions. There are very few cellists who can play like this.

Pentatonix found Kevin As there beat boxer on A KZbin video that I think went viral. He was playing the cello and beatboxing. He calls this cello Boxing.In the video shallow and radioactive He plays the cello

Kevin is an amazing, multitalented wonder. If you enjoy cello, you might want to check out Tina Guo. She’s a world renown cellist. She’s the one who wrote and performed the theme music to the recent Wonder Woman movie. And she does some crazy covers of other work including Metallica. Her cover of the theme song from Skyrim is phenomenal! Worth looking up on KZbin for sure and would make a unique and interesting reaction vid.

Yup, such talent. What I found truly amazing was he just finished his pre-med and was supposed to enter med school (Yale if I'm not mistaken) when the invitation from Scott came. It must have been a difficult decision. But it was a gain for us adoring fans and a loss to healthcare. Haha if he pursued his medical career then he could be one of the thousands of frontliners exposed to this ?&**pandemic. I think it was in their documentary (or in some other interview) that Kirstie said she was worried that Kevin might not like them 😊 so I think they must have been intimidated by Kevin's talent and genius

have you seen the interview very early in their career when Mitch begins to answer a question and Kevin tries to take over only to have Mitch come at him with sass about stopping right now if he thinks the fact that he was going to go to Yale means he needs to answer for him.. which had Kevin laughing hysterically? 😂 Oh my gosh it's adorable! ... it's an introduction to either PTX Vol. I or II.. it's on their channel. Kevin loves Mitch. He thinks he's "quite a funny character" and he's always laughing when Mitch is being serious 😂 I adore Kevin and can't figure out how he learned so much about so many things?!

Avi and Mitch gave or still give him voice lessons. He was very self conscious about his singing voice. I think it is lovely. He might actually sing higher than Mitch but do NOT quote me on that or come for me! Haha!

Kevin is an over-achiever so just playing a cello isn't enough he needs to beatbox or do something else. He's also a master in the creative art of "looping".
