I ran this detachment competive setting all last year. I found damage output underwhelming. On top of it once youve come out of hiding youd get nuked. My list was 3 lords with hammer 10 cultist 3x5 legionary melee loadout 3x3 bike melta fist 4 rhino 2 vindicator 2 predator destructor (best punch up with detachment i think) 1x5 havoc las cannon 1x5 havoc chaincannon The stratagems are good i think for scoring secondaries for sure. This year im running the pactbound and nurgle exploding 5s plus that strat is strong allowing you also to pop smoke same turn which certainly helps. I think raiders are the coolest and i love the theme i played a chais biker army in 7th and 8th but they legend my lord and sorcerer on bike and made squad size smaller but hey what can you do lol

There's something to be said about Pactbound Zealots giving you 5+ crits, but I agree, Renegade Raiders is simply the best. Assault armywide usually means the difference between getting into range and not getting into range to shoot, either due to LoS or because you can't reach otherwise. Extra AP is always nice against stuff on objectives because it's not just ranged weapons so it puts basically anything that has a 4++ on their invuln save regardless of what melee weapon you're using, and anything that doesn't have an invuln will probably be saving on a 5+ or 6+ at best. Advance and charge strat, re-roll hit strat, reactive move strat, it's just got it all. I wish I could play the more flavorful and thematic detachments but they either don't have a very strong army rule in a way that's useful (CSM is all gas no breaks so anything that doesn't juice your damage or movement or whatever feels weak) or their strats are really weak and you end up feeling like you're not able to do as much as in RR.

💯 agree with you. I tried and tried to make Pactbound work and I had moderate success. I even tried Chaos cult and soulforged warpack, but once I used RR like you say, it has it all. Love the comment thank you. How long have you been playing CSMs? 🙂

@@BoltgunTactics Not very long, a few months on TTS trying out the army. I'm a Daemons player (9k points painted) and I'm looking to expand my Chaos forces into other factions. I've tried the Bile detachment, Fell-Hammer and Pactbound mostly, but RR just feels the best. It's nice to be able to do turn 1 plays because you're often not able to charge, and the extra mobility offered to transports especially is really nice. Granted, I've had a pretty rough time against my Tyranid friend. He plays Invasion Fleet with a really well optimized synergistic build where I just can't seem to get through the Termagant and Hormagaunt wall to the really juicy stuff. His Flyrant keeps giving out strats and it has the FNP 5+ enhancement so it's so tough to kill in shooting. It's a really cool list but I've definitely been struggling a lot and it's been sort of demoralizing, lol.

@ i think sometimes when you play a friend regularly their list becomes optimised against your own, so can be tough. I have lots of success with ACDC bricks, backed up with a mix of tanks and fast moving stuff. Cypher is an auto include for me too 👌

@@BoltgunTactics Yeah, I don't like the look of cultists which is a bit of a problem since they're really strong in the meta. I'd rather play Marines, infantry heavy, which is why I've tried using the detachments I have. I don't mind playing meta but when the meta's not really to my liking, I'd rather try making what I like work as best I can.

@@Rd0Lgluckily for me Word Bearers love using cultists and I love the accursed models. I bought some because i loved them, played them and loved them even more 😂. I did run a list before (pactbound) that had 3 ACDC blobs, and 6 units of regular cultists along with some possessed 😂 it was lots of fun but took too long to move 😂
