Fun fact: Roger Ebert liked Home Alone 3 better than the first movie, even saying it's not as violent (he must have missed the lawn mower trap scene).
@harrisonho893411 ай бұрын
I actually thought Home Alone 3 was just as, if not more violent, than Home Alone 2. Not only because of the aforementioned lawnmower scene, but also because of electrocution, falling down several floors, having wardrobe fall on you, as well as a barbell, etc. Heck, some traps were even more or less taken from the second film! I wonder why Roger Ebert thought that this movie wasn't violent.

It did lead us to one of his greatest debates with Siskel, who hated it. Ebert also didn't like the 1989 Batman, while Siskel loved it. Another great contrast, Ebert hated Eight Crazy Nights, Roeper liked it. Personally I like Eight Crazy Nights. It's a guilty pleasure, with some fantastic animation. It's the same animators who did The Iron Giant.@@tjjordan4207

Some of John Hughes' writing decay is noticeable in the mid-90s from what I understand began after John Candy's passing since Hughes was so close and loved working with him. Hughes sadly became so depressed since and it shows through his writing being just cash grabs afterwards.

@MoostachedSaiyanPrince11 ай бұрын
I agree with what Doug says about the lack of realism in this movie, as well as some of his criticisms in general, but he neglected that this movie franchise never had any realism. The first movie featured a kid being left home while his whole family went on vacation and going on to outsmart a pair of career criminals and rigging his house with so many traps that people can easily imagine him growing up to be Jigsaw. Not to mention the burglars from the first two films would've been killed several times over from the damage inflicted by those traps. I'm not saying this movie is amazing, or even as good as either of the first two, but it IS continuing the same pattern that the first two movies established IMO. What this film lost was the feeling that the family the kid had was loving, and the extremely over the top humorous reactions of the people falling into the traps. The lack of both these things definitely hurt the film, but not to the extent that it's completely awful IMO.
@jake956527011 ай бұрын
That’s exactly what I’ve been saying these traps, although as violence as they are, they’re not getting the appropriate impact, nor the right reactions of these characters. The dude in the glue shoe bucket keeps making the same goofy face, even when falling down the stairs. The reactions from the wet bandits were over the top, but reacted appropriately, and thus made it look like they actually hurt. There is never a sense of pain from these four criminals.
