Literally just finished this book! I’m a little late to the party. I totally saw the twist about Ace coming because it seems a popular trope that if there’s no body = not actually dead. I find it beautifully ironic that Ingrid kept hassling Nova about not being able to kill someone and Ingrid is the first person Nova kills. Can’t wait to read the next one and be late to that party as well!

I finally finished the book today and I NEED TO PROCESS EVERYTHING THAT JUST HAPPENED OH MY GOD! I’m so glad Arch Enemies comes out so soon otherwise I don’t know how I’d survive. Marissa Meyer is a GENIUS and I’ve loved all her books so much. The Lunar Chronicles are of course amazing and Heartless which I finally read early this year broke my heart in the best way possible. I can’t wait to see what else she writes. Loved your review of the book!

I read the book so many times already! It's amazing! One of the later times I read it I put in post it notes by foreshadowing places. When rereading I noticed a few times Nova tries to go through the poster but something happens and then she doesn't. So technically there was proof all along she knew Ace was there. Also you didn't completely mention this but since Phobia killed Adrian's mom (the quote left by her body) he technically was responsible to Nova's parents deaths. Lady Indomitable was meant to be guarding the area where Nova lived but she was dead so she couldn't show up. That is why no renegades came right away. I think some point in the book Nova was in the area she used to live and Adrian said his mom used to patrol the area. I haven't read it in a while so I can't give exact details. In Archenemies I think they will find out each other's identities because of the title. I also loved what you said about Max gaining Nova's power because I actually thought of that too. Your videos are amazing and this one was definitely interesting to listen to.

I honestly didn’t pick up on the phobia quote abt Adrian’s mom bc I assumed that like all the old anarchist like phobia and Ingrid maybe knew something abt it. But now that I think abt it phobia is definitely involved bc like in the quote it talks abt fear which correlates to phobia’s power

I figured that as soon as they said they never found Ace’s body that he was probably alive, so I wasn’t shooketh at the plot twist. Probably bc I watch so much Criminal Minds that I have ingrained that no one’s dead until they find a body 😂

That's definitely true! I usually have the same philosophy with books (no body = no death) but I think what threw me off was the anarchists not interacting with Ace the whole time. It blew me away how hidden it was IMO!

Omg this is the first time I actually figure things out in a book, I knew Ace was going to be alive and I suspected phobia to have some kind of relation with Adrian's mother death just when he mentioned the sentence, and like I saw so many things coming which normally makes a book more boring but it just made me want to read more, also I absolutely loved your review and I agree with everything you said. My favorite thing about this series, is that it's not about being a hero. It's not always good and bad people. You get to see the story from a "villain's" perspective. And you start to understand that even a villain isn't a bad person, just a person who was played an unfair hand in life. And it's cool they shine light on the fact that heros aren't perfect. They sin just like everyone else, even if they mean well.

i would say there are really only two main characters - nova and adrian. but some important side characters are oscar, ruby, danna, honey, and ingrid.
