I have been a Renoise user for a very long time and this kind of channel has been a long time coming. So glad somebody stood up and made these guides. Renoise is one incredible program. I Subbed the moment I watched the first video :D

Thanks mate - glad you found it so useful. Renoise is a great sound design tool. I like the way it vizualises everything in the modulation section! ✌️😊

Thanks for the video, the first one motivated me to reopen Renoise for the first time in a while earlier this week. I quite like your video editing style btw.

Hey Nick! Thanks dude, yea I really like the Chebyshev with an slow sine LFO. I haven't seen it many other places besides Renoise but its cool! the Butterworth is also the curve used in the Akai's I think :) Keep well mate! ✌️🥷

We do get used to Renoise's automation madness, that's true. Yet another good video, caught some smart tips myself

Yea it is a bit crazy. I should have probably shown the one shot envelope trick for doing graphical automation but I was trying to keep this as simple a possible for people to follow through :) ✌️🥷

Question: recently saw a Polyend Tracker video where the values in the fx lanes can be changed using the knob wheel. Is there a way to do something similar in renoise? Maybe an action like hold ctrl and click drag the mouse up and down? I know you have covered using macro knobs in the past which i will explore further with
@groovining
@groovining 10 ай бұрын
Interesting! That would be cool, nothing I know of thought. Maybe someone has made a tool but I'm not sure which. The mouse wheel + Hotkey could potentially be good for this also :) ✌️

What's the difference between putting the sample in Mono playback (like what you did for the break) and using the Mute Group for the Pad? I can understand when using multiple samples that all belong to the same group but when you just want the same instrument to cut itself off, I don't know what the benefit is for each method.
@groovining
@groovining 7 ай бұрын
Mono playback will restrict the note to one lane in Renoise. The lanes in Renoise are monophonic so each new note will cut the previous one off. However, if you have release on an instrument, the note off event will trigger the note release. I use a mute group so I can use release on a instrument but when I trigger a new one it will cut off that note even if its in its release stage.

@@groovining are you saying the release tail will not be cut off when using mono playback?
@groovining
@groovining 7 ай бұрын
No. In some other samplers yes. But in Renoise the release tail will play even with the mono button on. You need to use a choke group to cut it or use a Cxx command.

Constructive criticism for this awesome video. Background music stomps over your voice in the intro, imho levels are off in comparison to the first part.

Thanks mate, I'm usually pretty good at getting the right levels but my voice could definitly have been a db or 2 higher! Will make sure in the future :)
