Mate, you abolutely nailed that classic vibe. Great how you Made the Rhodes work with the organ and piano from the M1! I love the M1. And goes to show that these sounds never get old. Very well done!

Thanks mr Denme0! I love the M1 too, Wavestation also. Loads of classic sounds. They just need a bit of saturation & reverb, delay to bring them to life a little and then they sound great. Super useful for laying also. ✌️🥷

I'm mostly the same - I quite like doing Sound Design etc in other DAWS as layering on a timeline is just so much easier but for production stuff Renoise is gold! :)

I know I'm almost a year late on this but the part where you added Vintage Warmer and then Transient Master right after to bring the sustained portions down again, wouldn't just tweaking the release on the VW accomplish the same thing? (btw, awesome track in the end!!)
@groovining
@groovining Жыл бұрын
Yes, your corret that you can control the envelope with compression. By using slow attack/fast release (letting the transient through) we can compress the body and tails of the signal but not the attack portion. This is definitly a common trick to add 'Snap' to your drum hits & bus. I do think it has a very different sound to transient shapers. Using compressors for this job your can really hear the compression pumping away. Transient Shapers, espeically at relativly low values are a much cleaner way to achieve a similar goal. That's what I think anyways! There certainly a lot simpler to fine tune :)

Thanks for these tutorials! Would you say that in terms of workflow that Renoise is faster than a traditional daw such as logic?
@groovining
@groovining 2 жыл бұрын
All good Stephan! I'm actually mainly a Logic user and absolutely love Logic. With all the new updates to the sampler, it's such a beast now. It's hard to say in terms of workflow. Renoise is amazing for chopping breaks, programming drums, making sample-based music. Logic is a fantastic all-rounder. I love both. One thing about Renoise is that you can get a super-fast workflow going with the keyboard where you barely touch the mouse. This is much harder in Logic where a lot of work is always done with the mouse/Marquee tool.

@@groovining wow thanks for the detailed answer! I actually use Studio One. I produce Kpop and RnB and was thinking wondering whether Renoise could fit my needs. Biggest problem I see is that I play a lot on my midi keyboard especially for chords and different chord fill rhythms. Tried it once and if you do that for several tracks, it looks quite overwhelming 😅
@groovining
@groovining 2 жыл бұрын
@@stefanyin3705 Yes Renoise can definitely become quite stressful when you're navigating a lot of different chords etc! One thing I like to do is Rewire Renoise in Logic and Sync the clocks. This way I can use Renoise for making cool drum parts and Logic for the Musical stuff. You can also Use Renoise as an Idea generator. Bounce down your audio into Studio One (through Rewire if you want individual tracks to Mix). Then continue to add from there. I use this workflow a lot with hardware such as Elektron Digitakt so why not with Renoise!

how to input notes shorter than 16th? Thank you
@groovining
@groovining 2 жыл бұрын
Change the LPB (Lines per beat) to 8 will make every line a 32nd note. Or with LPB at 4 you can delay a note by 80. This will essentially make it a 32 note as it is half way between two 16th notes.

Can't you get rid of the click with the button next to autoseek?
@groovining
@groovining 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is also possible and definitely the simplest way to get rid of clicks. It applies a small fade so you may lose a little attack but only a minimal amount.
