Gary Richrath. The man, the legend. Dude can play the absolute hell out of a Les Paul!
@deanstephens594010 жыл бұрын
His drinking was getting out of hand and had been for some time.From what I have read he was becoming a bit too undependable and was showing up already half sloshed. They didn't want too but it was necessary to cut and replace him. The good news is that they are talking again and both Gary and Kevin would be open to do something together again if the other approached the subject. Stubborn pride on both sides. There is a vid on here where Gary returns and reunites with the guys for a couple of tunes. He looks like hell but he can still play the guitar like a mad man!
@deanstephens594010 жыл бұрын
***** Couldn't agree more Scott. The guitar and Gary have a bond it seems. The good news is that he has done a few 'impromptu" gigs with the boys and all are open to working with each other again. Gary is beating his personal demons. I only hope that he keeps on the right track and stays clean and serene. I hate to imagine a world without Garys riffs.

I think the Righteous Brothers said it best, if there's a rock and roll heaven, then you know we've got a hell of a band. Today is Tues Nov 6, 2018. I'm an RN who 2 weeks ago had my 5th lumbar surgery, this one to stop pending paralysis. I'm not seeking sympathy- far worse things I'm a youthful 59. Music from these priceless musicians (and,sure, others too) are at the top of my list for pain control b4 & during recovery. They keep me rolling-- really. Their music takes me away from the tougher days. More importantly, their music takes me TO a sense of happiness, not to mention utter respect for their talent. I'm walking better and better, each day starting with phones (great sound) on my head, listening to healing talent. Sad to say, I've been a rare concert goer-never cut out that sorta "me" time. Would love to learn that I might still see REO, standing on two legs, smiling and shedding some tears. Sorry to ramble. Now a shower and off to vote. Brian Johnson.

Dear MR Johnson, my name is William , I too love R.E.O. and had the blessing of being able to see them 2 times it was a Virginia beach budwieser concert , so where ever you stood that's was your spot for the night , I have to say im not bragging , but I felt super ass lucky as hell I got my wife to hang out with me right at the very front of the stage for 5 hours before they came out, your going to love this, as we were standing there Kevin Cronin ,(Lead Singer) came over right in front of us so many times and looked straight down at us as if to apologize for his sweat flying all over us,lol, it was great !! my wife was bitchin up a storm lol, luckily I had stuck a hand cloth in my shorts pocket and was using it to wipe off my face , I still have the wash cloth which I wrapped up in another towel and placed it in a box and sealed it and marked it Kevins sweat rag,lol it was great , we could crystal clear see he was saying sorry though we couldn't hear him but it wasn't haed to read his lips as he looked right at us and said it , it was an awesome show , they played all there most popular songs that night , I was surprised Kevin had so much energy ,he was all over that stage , playing guitar,piano, singing , the one thing he didn't do was play the drums , im sure if there was another set up on stage he would have, Kevins s super talented for sure, our 2nd time seeing him was in Baltimore ,MD pier 5 pavilion , again general admission , and yes up to the stage we went early as hell again pretty much a repeat of the 1st show , I made sure to bring 2 towels one for each of us , and sure enough Kevin was full of spunk and was sweating like mad , I cold have squeezed my rag of his sweat into a cup, lol, I Love his talent and performances but that's as far as it goes for me, I wasn't trying to save even Kevin,s sweat,lol, though the thought did cross my mind,lol, but no, another awesome all hits show , glad I was blessed to catch them 2 times being smashed into the stage by the crowd , one thing I noticed about Kevin , he seemed to like being in the center of the stage and if your in the crowd he would go back an forth from the bass player and back to the center , once in a while he would go to the other side but the center and over near the bass guy and back he did that same move pretty much all night including a couple of run,s up to the drummer and stand there for a min, then right back down to the center, to give me and my wife another sweat bath,lol, he had a look on his face as if he had remembered us from the beach show , when he seen he was sweating on us again, its like O.M.G. im sweating on these guys again,lol, he made the, damn im sorry I keep soaking you guys,lol, you could see it in the look in his face him mouthing sorry guys and even rolled his eyes as he was the bad guy,lol, it was great, hey when your at the very front of any stage where the guys are up there playing under all those hot ass lights its kinda hard not to sweat, so being in that spot which is awesome when you love the bands music its no big deal, I say go ahead guys and sweat your asses off but play that awesome music and give us the best show you can possibly kick out to us , hell yeah !!!! ROCK AN ROLL,N BABY !!! W.H.W. Friday july 16th 2021 4:03am

REO Speedwagon fire trucks were built in my hometown of Lansing, Michigan, which was lucky enough to have a visit from REO Speedwagon during the Tuna FIsh tour. The concert took place in the asbestos-laden Civic Center -- one of those old venues that held 10,000 people and had everything from rock concerts to revivals. Neither the REO plant or the Civic Center are around anymore and both spots are pretty barren. Roll with the changes, Lansing.

WAP is the epitome description of the fall of the USA and why we will be taken over by another country in a few dacades. You know China would never allow a song like that to be played on the radio there because they know it will destroy their culture. Even szucky totaliatarian Communist clocks are correct twice a day.

It's the fall of 1971 and I am sitting in a local watering hole in Champaign, Illinois with my date on a saturday night getting hammered. I am not sure but I think the name of the bar was Chances R. Just can't remember for sure. Some band I had never heard of, was playing that night and they ROCKED! Had no idea who they were and had never heard of them before. Turns out it was REO Speedwagon.

Saw them when I was in the Navy in 1985, Hampton Roads Virginia, within the Top 4 concerts I ever did see, was a huge surprise.
