Bernie Sanders

Bernie Sanders

Күн бұрын

"Now that I'm on the other side in the halls of Congress, it astounds me that [Bernie Sanders] has been able to withstand the intense amount of pressure there is here to conform, to stay quiet and to compromise on behalf of the lives of working people.
"When he talks about a political revolution and when he talks about 'Not me, us,' those aren't slogans. This is not about Senator Sanders. This is about what we have to accomplish together. This is not about saying everyone should have health care with some asterisks or that your student loan debt should be forgiven under certain conditions. This is about unconditional, universal, guaranteed advanced standard of living in the United States of America. No ifs, no ands, no buts, no matter who you are, where you come from, what you're born into. We should have a society that guarantees 21st century economic human rights, that introduces democracy to the workplace where people feel protected and safe at work, where they feel honored and dignified at home. And that every person has actual power in the United States of America.
"We need to have a revolution of working class people at the ballot box in the United States of America. And it needs to be multi-racial, multi gendered, multi-generational. Our future is not going to get better unless we demand it and unless we work for it. When you talk to Bernie, he doesn't talk about making a movement so that he can get elected. He talks about his campaign as part of a mass movement in America and that's the kind of leadership that I think we need right now." - Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

That's the kind of brave new world we need. Where people stand together and work for the betterment of their fellow man, free of hate, division, and bigotry. No matter our disagreements, we can work together towards mutual respect, where our differences are celebrated, not shut down as dangerous "otherness". That brave new world will be here much, much sooner with Bernie Sanders as president of the USA, and leader of the free world. His legacy will be an inspiration to countless others. I am going to disagree with you there. Sanders' conflict with Warren was a pretty big fail on his part. It's important to make sure we don't become like the Trumpists and follow Bernie blindly. Bernie is a great man but he's still just a man with flaws and who can only do so much. It's his principles that we need to focus on. MLK was also a flawed man but his dreams and convictions live on forever. I think Bernie's ultimate goal should be to retire confidently. That there are enough young people carrying on the fight for American socialism that he himself becomes redundant.

Nobody will ever be able to borrow for college again if they do. And while Bernie wants to make some college free, it's going to be the weakest institutions, not great private colleges. That's not a very good summary statement, it's a good pie in the sky type statement that includes the public paying to house crackheads. I would say that Bernie offers a path to a more representative Congress, if and only if we get campaign finance reform. Presidents don't write legislation, pass it, or fund it. So he assures a couple puzzle pieces like insurance. But he won't accomplish half of what he proposes, which is fine, I like the tone.

@@BLTspace - Please don't tell me to calm down, I am telling you what you seem to not know about the real America. If you wish to house a crackhead, you are free to be that generous, and I wish you and the addict the best for that. However for you to tell me I have to pay out of my labor to house a crackhead, you are trying to be the boss of me, and I would resist that. Apparently you do not work for a living? I'd be happy to take great care of decent people who are trying or having an emergency, but a dope addict or crackhead can live under a bridge outside of town and we can drive by in a food truck and throw them a bag of rice and beans ever four days and my conscience would be clear. Charity should be voluntary.

@@johnsmith1474 Your taxes already help crackheads in some way or another I hate to tell you. You want to hold a clipboard and check off who gets what and who doesn't. That in fact makes the system less efficient and cost even more. There's write offs and overhead built into good systems. It's cheaper to clean our streets and get efficient. The amount of taxes you might pay doesn't change if we decide to ignore crackheads. It's literally a non issue.

When during the Trump administration the bottom 1/5th of wage earners had their incomes rise the fastest of all groups. That was the first time that had happened since the George W Bush administration. Because both Trump and W. used Kennedy's theory of using lower taxes, less immigration, deregulation, and smaller government to tighten up the labor market. Which raises wages, allows mobility, allows for advancement, and gives people dignity. Compare that to the Democrat policies of using high taxes, over regulation, open immigration, and big government to put permanent slack into the labor market. Which drives down wages and drives up housing prices at the same time, to the point tens of millions of people don't have any money left over at the end of the month. And it's the low wages at the bottom that allows the excesses at the top, causing the wealth gap. Raising the bottom 1/5th of wage earners wealth relative to everyone else is something liberals will never be able to do because of their policies. Whether unwittingly or intentionally, Bernie and AOC's policies are the cause of the wealth gap. If they actually cared about poor and working class people, Bernie and AOC would be Kennedy/Reagan conservatives.
