Don't let shango know about recapping. We'll never hear the end of it.

I'm thinking that you must have very reasonable rates---people on a budget wouldn't be able to afford to have all of that work done at many shops. And that's even if they could find a shop willing to recap an entire board. Great job

I've always liked Panasonic items, most of it seemed to last forever, and was usually repairable. It did help too that our distributor was an official Panasonic parts dealer.

Nice repair on that one. My dad had one some years back. I remember it having the Quintrix logo on it, set looked the same otherwise. Funny thing is, he got rid of it in the late early 2000s having vertical issues. Lol

Happy New Year Jordan! I enjoy watching your videos! They are relaxing and stress free to watch! (maybe not stress free to repair haha!) I really like seeing some of the old TV sets, some I actually remember!

I once repaired a Panasonic 25" color TV from 1987 that didn't want to turn on anymore. Turned out the fuse blew, because the power plug from the TV got forced out of the wall by a metal legged chair and one prong of the plug contacted the metal leg of the chair while it was still partially plugged into the wall which shorted out the TV and blew the fuse in the TV, I replaced the fuse and it worked fine afterwards.

Nice repair. Do you happen to have a list of capacitors, I have the same model of set connected to a VIC-20 and I would like to get it recapped before anything happens.
@JordanPier3 жыл бұрын
I have a cap list i crudely put together but I didn't write down the voltages for many. I made a map, yanked and replaced as I went. Most are likely 50v caps: 2x .1uf/50v 2x .47uf/50v 5x 1uf/50v 4x 2.2uf/50v 1x 3.3uf/50v 3x 4.7uf/50v 4x 10uf/50v 1x 22uf/50v 1x 22uf/160v 1x 33uf/50v 1x 33uf/160v 3x 100uf/35v 4x 220uf/35v 3x 470uf/35v 1x 1000uf/35v There may be one or more I missed, but I think that should do it. Used 105 degree caps.

Can I send you my Pioneer amp for some simple repair work. The unit is basically operating fine with one exception, the right channel is starting to die on me no matter what function I put it in. I don't think its the front panel pots. You could make a video out of it.

@@NIVJOE7 fine tuning is way off. Someone was tweaking with the tuner. Push in as you rotate the center of the channel changing knob in one direction or another and see if picture and sound will lock.

it looks amazing now jordan, a very clean picture and the colours look clean unlike some of the old sets that had a soft tube and worn out deltagun tube. As you said it's sharp, must have a really good c.r.t 😀 Yep the evil caps strike again!. I watch a channel called 12voltvids, he has found loads of smd electrolitics stopping vcrs and similar, caps all seem at the end of there life span.
