Just when I thought the repair shop videos can't get worse, we have a shop that manages to drive a screw into the motherboard so far that it cracks the board, destroy a ribbon cable, get liquid metal everywhere and then go, eh, here's your PS5 back. Very fun to see you try and fix it, too bad that crack was so deep.

On the other hand, I find Tronics' channel is so amazing to watch, he makes sure he doesnt go silent and keeps up with with every detail in the fixing process not to mention he's really professional at what he does. I killed an imac by accident while repairing it rossmann style but as an "authorized apple tech". The lady had not much money in the first place. I felt so bad that i (as an employee) bought her a brand new computer. She returned to the shop later and thanked my boss for the company’s job. After he found out in the system that i bought an iMac recently, he just said that our company would have provided a new one for free when a tech messed up. No matter how it’s repaired ( it was out of warranty and of course the local Apple Store didn’ help this customer. Long story short: boss gave me my 2k back. We gained a lot of customers from the place she worked and recognized us that we made more money than we lost by doing a "free repair" and we didn’t pay for local ads. She told all her friends to buy from us. See, apple? What a shame to kill someone’s expensive stuff and not even provide a solution

The story of how this PS5 got damaged doesn’t sound legit at all. They took it in to fix the HDMI port and got it back with the damage the chip/board and all that liquid metal onto the APU? Such a shame for this poor owner. It really grinds my gears seeing repair shops do this. I know from experience that the circuit directly underneath the HDMI encoder has 1.1v, 3.3v and 5v lines running all the way through. Some of them go to the HDMI circuit, there's also some going to the Infineon audio controller and some going to F7002. If you want me to, I can dig through a scrap board layer by layer in that area and map out those circuits for jumper wires to be run and bridged across? Also out of curiosity did you ever manage to fix the 13 PS5s revisit or still a work in progress?

I had my OG PS3 "reballed" to a repair shop back in 2014. They didn't do the reballing process at all, but the only thing that they did was doing the exact same thing, they inserted an incorrect screw and killed the LAN, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capability of my console and I had to replace the board altogether and it was the launch edition as well. It still pisses me off when I remembered about it, shame on them.

@@ells5656 There's nothing "rightly so" about it and it makes zero sense. You can trace everything on a good board and reverse engineer it if you wanted to find vulnerabilities. Don't just buy the corporate lawyers' BS, think for yourself. Intellectual property has nothing to do with having schematics and knowing where a wire goes. It still doesn't give you access to the software internals and its source code, not to mention that the most secure servers running the whole internet are open-source based, meaning you and I can read every single line of code and find "vulnerabilities". Every console's been hacked by now and you can play pirated games on 'em. I'm pretty sure it doesn't get worse than this. How did people manage to do that *without* any info from Sony??? Yet, we still have zero service help from the company, so we can fix consoles faster and cheaper for customers. And ignorant statements like this one doesn't help any of *us all* either.

Even given my time in my shop we have statement saying "if we don't fix it you don't pay" even on solder jobs but there is no way I would send someone away with something that has further damage than when I received it. I recently replaced someone's laptop be a use I opulent fund the replacement keyboard they came in for even though I ordered keyboard with matching model numbers. I felt bad about even that let alone if I were to give them back a laptop they couldn't even use anymore. (Note: I transfered all their data over so they did not lose data). Wow, the "repair" shop really destroyed that! Pathetic business practices - at least if you do shoddy work own it and reimburse the customer. Great video as always thank you for sharing your professional and hard work!

You said you were keeping the board for a possible future fix, which I get, but what happens with the kids PS5 now? Did you swap out the board and send it back?

We agreed that I would keep the Ps5 to possibly try to fix at a later date and I sent them a working PS5.

In my country, there are a lot of unhonest repair shop that will take your screws away probably sell them later or keep them as spares. So I think the missing screws in your video were deliberately taken away.

Drilling through a chip like that, they must have used a power tool to screw...
