Doesn’t it amaze you how much we seem to take dishwashers, washing machines and other appliances for granted until something goes wrong with them? I guess it’s a good thing we have folks like you to help us out with fixing said appliances when something does go wrong with them. I was able to fix my mom’s washing machine with the help of your videos, so my hat’s off to you.

After cleaning my dishwasher down to the impeller in the bottom, and listening to your video a few times, I have come to the conclusion that it is a pump motor. No water is getting to the arms, so washer is no longer a washer :). Thanks so much for this very very clear video (I have a Kenmore and the Sears repair guy is coming. I think I am one step ahead of the game here).

Thanks for the comment! Some dishwashers actually do have an added feature that allows for extra rinses. You could also install a water softener to your house water supply. This would improve your dishwasher's performance and would cut back on the amount of soap or detergent needed. There are many benefits to this besides improved dishwasher performance as well.

How the check ball works is actually a little complicated to explain in a KZbin comment. It has to do with the flow of water pushing the ball up and down a ramp, with the outlet port for the lower wash arms at the bottom of the ramp and the outlet port for the upper wash arms at the top. The timing of the water shutting off and starting again determines where the check ball is resting and which outlet port is blocked.

Hey RepairClinic, My dishwasher is no longer working, When i turn it on, it sounds like its trying to filling with water, but im not sure if it actually is, i cant visibly see water in the bottom, and theres still the dirt and particles on the bottom, if i wait for a minute or so, it goes to what seems would be the rinse cycle, but the only thing it does is make the whirring sound of the motor, no water shooting up or anything. Im going to try what was mentioned in this video about filling it up manually and try it again, I just wanted to get in touch and see if you have any tips. Thanks a bunch. Can't afford a new dishwasher and I just spent $45 on maintenance parts for this one.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what repair you're referring to. The float does not actually determine the water level. Its only use is in case the dishwasher starts to over fill.
@davidm78244 жыл бұрын
i just purchased a new one and it does not have heated drying to get its energy star rating. just open the door and let it air dry. works fine, no spots. i also have soft water, that helps.

Another thing that wasn't mentioned is the hard food disposer. I know that many dishwasher manufacturers have done away with this feature to reduce noise. Many dishwashers now rely on just a filter, that needs to be manually cleaned. But many dishwashers currently on the market, including the Frigidaire model shown in the video, do still contain food disposers.

Thank you for this video.. So, the water level is not determined by the float, except when it becomes too high and the float switch stops it. Then what determines the water level? Is it simply a time setiing, the inlet valve stays open for a set length of time?
@repairclinic11 жыл бұрын
That is correct.
@repairclinic11 жыл бұрын
No we have not. Spots on dishes are most often left by adding too much detergent.

I was just thinking since the whole process requires it to draw more electricity from the power supply maybe the heat generated from the drying process of the previous cleanng can be converted to electric energy and then be used to run the machine in the next cleaning? is it possible?
@searez72512 жыл бұрын
That is really an excellent Idea, but the heat generated during drying process is infact transferred to the items to be washed (thermal equilibrium) so in reality there is no energy wasted in the process of heat transfer.

Our Fisher & Paykel dishwasher has all of a sudden started tripping the outlet RCD breaker today, after using it once in a long time, causing every single outlet in the house to lose power. Ran a full cycle with eco mode turned off. Was 97 minutes before it started, but 19 minutes remaining at the time of fault. After turning the breaker back on, I notice, the dishwasher drains fine, fills up and washes fine, the fault happens just right after that. Right now I have no idea what could be causing this. Any suggestions are helpful.

Ok, well my point is we supposedly have these brilliant engineers designing these machines, and many never gave a thought to adding a second rinse option to the cycle? I don't get it. My particular Bosch SHE55m12UC dishwasher doesn't even have a rinse and hold option. And it's a premium dishwasher. ($800)
@Berzeger11 жыл бұрын
You have to put the dishes in the dishwasher yourself anyway, so holding them under a stream of water for a few seconds doesn't take much more effort. :)

Is it possible to remove water from salt chamber at the time of refilling?
@DoubleM555 жыл бұрын
You should not remove any water, my instructions clearly say you need to just pour the salt in and it will displace the water (Salt will sink to the bottom and water will pour out of the container). But that is ok since water will just drain through the filter and during next washing it will be drined out.
@GershonHeyman Жыл бұрын
Where does the salt factor come into play?
@BroccoliBeefed11 жыл бұрын
It cleans most things well. Some substances it simply will not remove. For instance, egg, high protein and potassium items like soy milk shakes and dried banana it usually won't remove
