Merv after doing all this in part 1 my poor dishwasher still didn’t spray and clean even though I found several nasty buildups. Your part two was such a life saver. My kitchenaid washer needed a new circulation pump/motor at the end of the day. 50 bucks on Amazon. Slapped it together. She works. I am my wife’s hero. Thanks Merv for the entertainment,education and confidence to do it.

Thanks Merv!!! This video may have been the most useful 9 minutes and 48 seconds of 2023 so far!!! I knew something was wrong with my dishwasher because it had minimal water flow, not even enough pressure to spin the wash arms, so I was thinking I needed to replace it, but I followed your instructions and took everything apart (my dishwasher was a bit different but it was still just as easy as you made it look) and I found a mesh filter by the grinder that was all clogged up. Once I took that out and cleaned it, and reassembled everything, it was working good as new again.

This helped out a bit today. Saw I had some standing water in there. It's July 4th, got a brisket on the smoker, and a cold one. Thought to myself it seems like a perfect time to rectify the situation. Boy was it a greasy mess when took the big screen filter off. Spent probably a good hour degreasing parts and the bottom of dishwasher. All back together and it sounds right. Hear the water draining to the sink, and hope the dishes come out cleaner now. Guess after 14 years of not doing any kind of maintenance to it, it was time. Cheers and happy 4th of July.

@MervsServiceSecrets2 жыл бұрын
Of course, I don't have all the details about every machine, but I can speculate that if water is not coming into the unit, either you have a bad solenoid valve, the float shutoff valve is stuck in the wrong position, or maybe its something silly like you forgot to turn the water back on. Hope this helps point you in the right direction. -Merv Himself. P.S. If you solve the problem, please stop back and let us know.

Hi Merv....soo happy to have found your vids! My 17 y.o. dishwasher has a couple of minor issues, hope you can help?? The upper rack hangs down when the rack is fully loaded, causing the spray arm to bang into taller items on the lower rack...i.e. the edges of dinner plates etc. I have tried to see some way to straighten/tighten this upper rack up like it was when new but I can't see how to do this. The problem seems to be caused by both side roller assemblies which seem to be very slack. Any ideas on how I can fix it? BTW....I'm not too mobile so I need a "knees friendly solution". Thank you for any help. Enjoyed this vid. 👌👍
@MervsServiceSecrets5 жыл бұрын
Even though I'm not really a dishwasher expert, I think I can at least help you through a diagnosis procedure that identifies the probblem. First, pull up a chair along side the dishwasher so you can sit comfortably without breaking your back. Being able to relax while you analyze the situation -- without pain -- will help you do a more thoughtful job. Next, figure out exactly how the top rack attaches. If it's like mine, there is a slider track & roller assembly inside the dishwasher "box", but there are also plastic pieces which hold the top rack into that metal slider track. If I had to guess, that's where the problem is. Where all those pain-in-the-neck plastic pieces come together. Odds are, the brittle plastic has worn down or cracked over the years of being exposed to hot water. By comparing one side of the rack support to the other side of the rack support, you may be able to notice where the broken or missing pieces are. Many of these pieces can be purchased on amazon believe it or not and I will make sure Demille leaves a link for you beneath the video description as soon as I hit REPLY to your question. If all else fails and you can't find the perfect replacement part, remember ZIP TIES can work wonders. (not kidding) Hope this helps, happy New Year, and welcome to the Mervolution. -Merv Himself

All plastic breaks down so when your top shelf stoppers break use a twist tie to hold the clip in.

I'm dying, watching this. Your delivery and description is fantastic! I'm trying to become a facilities maintenance technician for a large apartment complex (900 apartments) here in North Carolina. Your videos and experience added to your personality are really helpful to me.

Bearded Gardener i manage 5 rentals for my dad & brother. KZbin can usually get me thru troubleshooting but only after an hour of searching & multiple ding dongs that talk too fast, give no explanation of cause, what other parts play in the problem etc. Merv just fixed a dishwasher in 2 sentences that my dad replaced last week. I knew it wasn’t THAT broken, I couldn’t get the float off, but in his haste he just trashed a perfectly clogged up machine. He did the same to my hot water heater, now my roof leaks since an actual maintenance man changed the pipe cover to a 45🤦🏼♀️. I’m sticking here from now on! Good Luck to u on ur new endeavor!

Thanks for the help Merve. Just don't make the mistake I did and put the bottom rack in backwards. The computer doesn't like that.
