A door switch failure is a common issue on microwaves with the large doors containing the controls. The weight of the control panel and full width door puts added strain on the door switches. Over time you'll notice your door sags slightly. Mine began sagging enough to hear a slight rubbing sound on the hinge side. A few months later I noticed three was a delay before the interior light came on. Then after baking a pizza the microwave failed to turn off when I opened the door. I knew exactly what happened. The door switches needed replacing. During the same repair I added a thin washer to the bottom hinge to lift the door enough to open and close properly in order to reduce strain on the new door latches. Before ordering new component ensure the hinge screws are properly snug. Inspect the door latches to ensure a spring or connection didn't come lose. If the screws, springs, and electrical connections are not the issue, note your model number and order parts. To save money orders parts ahead of hiring a repair man/woman. However some repair men/women won't install customer supplied parts due to liability issues. In such instances, while scheduling the repair, insist the repair man/woman charge for the part without their 20-50% markup. In advance of scheduling find the exact new parts necessary online. Print or save the webpage noting the new part with the everyday price. EBay and Amazon may have cheap knockoff parts that do not comply with safety standards. Therefore such illegal parts are not suitable for price matching. Nor should you attempt to install them in your appliance. Doing so can cause fire and/or death or injury. Only use parts from reputable suppliers. Your safety is much more important than saving a few bucks. Cheers!

I had an issue with the door switch on and off. It would sometimes not register that the door was closed. Prior I would toggle the switch with a bent clothes hanger and it would work again. This time it looks like it shorted out because the unit went dead. Any idea what could be the issue?

@@Cbv1914 blew one of the two 20amp fuses. I just had the exact issue tonight. I repaired a stuck micro switch. Gotta get the fuse tomorrow.

@@regularguyfixes3142 I got a multimeter off amazon, found the bad switch. Whirlpool said they don’t sell the individual switches but they sell the upper or lower bracket that houses two switches each. That would be $40 each and wouldn’t be available till January. Ended up ordering both the switch and fuse off amazon. In total I spent $25 on the tool and the two parts. Has worked great for the past 4-5 days now.

I believe I need a new display as the fuse looks burned up. Can you post a video of how to do that? The display is in the door on this model!

the light fitting bracket has fallen into the base complete with the bulb is this a fire hazard

I lost all power to my microwave and replaced the main 20amp fuse, however still no power. What else would cause no power to the microwave? I also check the breaker box to make sure the breaker wasn't thrown. I checked power from the outlet that the microwave is plugged into as well. Lost. Thank you

There are two fuses. One above a fan at the front and one at the top right all way on back panel of microwave.

@@regularguyfixes3142 Does the microwave have to be taken completely down to access these? Is there one I can access without taking down to try first? Can you give a little more info on where this one is? I am having the same issue.

Mines says door not closed....so is it the switch box or holder i need to replace??????????plz hlep me lol

You can take the switch apart and the contacts will be welded together but can be seperated then sand them lightly. Should work. To test all the switches have a brown tab you press to hear a sharp click. No click it's stuck.
