REPAIRING RUSTY HQ TONNER ROOF

This is my 1972 HQ 1 tonner also known as HQ1TN. In this episode I unpick the roof skin and repair all the rust ready for the gutters to get welded back on. I also finish welding in the replacement scuttle, continuing on from the last video.

Gday Tait. Great work your doing there mate. Going back to your last video with the doors, it might be worth pulling the skins off the the outside and sandblasting the door internals. As you know , manu areas of these cars were built with no protection on the metal asx they couldn’t access them. Blast. Clean, expoxy. 👍

Thanks for the comment, I protected most of the inner doors but i do need to readdress them. There not super rusty so i’m not to sure if i need to go that far with it but cheers for the suggestion will definitely take it into consideration 👍🏻

Have seen some epic custom jobs on tonners over the years. Old mate back in the day used blue flake on black paint with centerlines , 10s and 8s , polished wood tray. Mildly worked 308. Looked nice, with dump pipes no mud flaps.

Thanks mate, we had it on a rotisserie to do the floor pans and bottom A pillars. It went back on the chassis so we could put the doors on to line up the sills. This was all before i started the youtube but we will be putting it back on the rotisserie very soon
