Hi - The Signature Amsoil ATF costs about 60% more than Toyota WS. The OE Amsoil ATF is about the same price. Would there be value in switching to the OE Amsoil - at least it is synthetic, or is the Signature Amsoil the best way to go? Thx!

@@repairvehicle I have a 2009 Toyota Tundra 4WD 5.7L with 110,000 miles. I had the fluid changed at 60,000 miles, then I did 3 drain-and-fills a few months ago with Toyota WS. Thinking about switching to either Amsoil OE or Amsoil Signature ATF. I do tow a boat during the summer months. Is the Amsoil OE fluid better than the Toyota WS, since it is synthetic? Would you recommend using the Amsoil Signature over the Amsoil OE?

Oe is definitely better than ws, however signature series is your best choice due to higher heat it can tolerate since you are towing.

Interesting video. The new Toyota atf bottle has a lot of counterfeits in the asian market, fluid looks pale pink and not reddish in color and cost only about $4 a bottle. Sadly a lot of people are buying because its dirt cheap without doing any research, eventually ruining their transmission. Great video!

@repairvehicle3 жыл бұрын
Amsoil products sold through many independent auto parts stores. However, cost is higher vs purchasing online. Because stores have to make money and they increase price per bottle. If you purchase online, you have choice to purchase at wholesale price with preferred customer service. Or purchase retail price at lower prices than stores sell. With online purchase, you have option for free shipping. Depending on your location, you can have your products shipped in 3 days or less, that's how been my experience. There 2 types of atf fluids available for your camry OE and Signature series. I use signature series in every vehicle I have. Several PPM (Parts Per Million) of contaminants could come from the test machine's calibration variations and/or contaminants from handling the sample. I wouldn't be too concerned. The higher viscosity is an interesting fact. This can affect transmission performance. It would be nice to know what friction coefficients are obtained with the different oil formulations. Do you have test results for fresh Amsoil ATF? BTW, transmission oil in my 2016 4Runner, looked clear brownish at only 20,000 miles when I installed an external oil cooler. I really expected the fluid to look red at only 20k. The vehicle wasn't used for towing or in any extreme conditions. I did a partial fluid replacement with Amsoi,l Fuel Saving ATF. Currently I got 45,000 on the vehicle and it's probably ready for another fluid change. It's not shifting as smooth as it used to. I'm conflicted about what brand ATF to use this time.

Changed 4 runner at 50 k with Amsoil. The WS fluid was dark purplish color. My advice to you is use Amsoil and don’t look back. It works great with great shifts you can flush at home(if you know how to do it) or do 3-4 drain and fill and you will get 90 percent of old fluid changed. But Amsoil is the way to go. Good to learn the information from this video, bought 7 quarts old WS fluid on eBay, received today and they look old as the sticker label started peeling and discolored a bit, they have code 11017L03A 0094, I guess these are manufactured in in 2017? Do you think if it’s safe to use in a 2021 Toyota Sienna hybrid

Hi, Great video. I have a 2009 Lexus ls600hl with 285k on the engine. This vehicle has a cvt transmission that failed. I have a replacement being shipped from Canada. Is Amsoil atf compatible with a hybrid cvt? Or should I use the WS fluid? These’s some special fill process I guess you have to follow to make sure you have the correct level.

My lady has a 2012 Scion Xb with the automatic trans. I believe it's been changed twice in it's life. First one with filter around 150k miles. Second around 200k. It's now at 236k miles. Runs fine for the most part. This past week she took it up to cooler weather and one early morning while she was gonna leave to the store she shifted into R and it didn't shift at all. But once it warmed up it shifted fine. I'm thinking the fluid might be old and need a few changes. The last time it was drained and filled it "fixed" a slow shift issue. What are your thoughts? Subscribed to your channel. Great info!

You will be surprised how comments I get from people who changed their fluid and problems with transmission went away. However, I would check to see if there are any codes. Also, check fluid level.

@@repairvehicle fluid level is within range cold and when warm. It has 2 ranges on the dipstick. No codes have been thrown by the transmission yet. I've seen a couple of your videos dealing with transmissions and I will give Amsoil a try. Here in the USA , I recently went to a Toyota Dealer to buy a transmission filter / strainer for my 2020 Toyota Camry , which has 40000 + miles . They couldn't understand why I would want to change it . A filter filters whatever and they can / do get clogged , you are unable to see until you remove it . And they said your fluid is " lifetime " . I know there is thoughts to change fluid ranging from 30000 - 60000 miles . I want to have it changed every 30000 miles and new filter . Others say just " drain and fill " and when to change the filter !? I will seek out a shop that sells / uses Amsoil products in their servicing of customers vehicles . To have a " transmission service " done as I want to .

Watch this video about transmission filter kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2PJaJd8g7VraM0 Remember 99% of dealers don’t work or service cars past warranty. When you ask about filter replacement or fluid they have no clue what someone is talking about because dealers don’t work on cars past warranty time, independent shops or dyi.
