Archbishop Orombi's call for repentance from Uganda's MPs highlights the disconnect between the leadership and the suffering of ordinary Ugandans. His rebuke underscores the failure of MPs to address critical issues, such as rampant corruption, human rights abuses, and the erosion of democratic principles. While it is important for politicians to be held accountable, religious leaders, including the Archbishop, also have a crucial role to play in standing up for justice and human dignity. Unfortunately, many religious leaders in Uganda have remained silent in the face of gross human rights violations, perhaps due to fear or political alliances. This silence allows abuses to persist, making the calls for repentance even more urgent from both political and religious circles...
