Wow, great timing, I was at my son in laws and there was a 6 hrs fisherman there that was there off his boat. Asked his what’s going on with it ? Said rope broke on the pull start ! I’ve done one before and struggled a bit ! The T Mike trick the wedge is the lost tip I needed Thank you 😬👍

Thanks T-Mike!! You've help me alot along the way to getting my grandfather's vintage motor going. I have a solid troubleshooting question for you. This 1967 9.5hp Johnson motor starts and runs great but when I try to get to top speed it seems to bog and bubble as if the prop is spun but the prop seems good. I feelive got it runnig at 30% in forward. Only getting 6mph .... the best I've got it is 9-10mph when it seem to get to 50% power if I tune it with the low speed rich/lean just before the boat levels out so it's a bit of a splash ride. That knob shouldn't affect it at high speed so i thinks it's the high speed jet. It idles good, start great within half a pull. Taking the cover does not affect it so i dont think i have an exhaust leak. So l'm thinking my carb needs a good clean of the high speed jet. Or my timing is off. Or my compression is too low.
