BTW - My Wen planer, which I no longer have, hade a similar feature. The cover had to been on to close a normally open switch.

Trivial oversight: While it was mentioned before the procedure, this also skips showing or describing the removal of the screw behind the planer removal gauge plate. Though its resinstallation is shown making clear that its a phillips head screw.

Since that is a Ralf Nader Switch I would have by passed it. or you could have just moved the connector from the normally closed to the normally open position! If mine ever fails I now have a place to ohm out first!

Now that was funny, I think your jumper cables were not big enough to carry the current load. I have found your problem! When you changed those straight knives for the chimp monks one of those chimp monks swapped the normally closed leg on the micro switch with the normally open contact. Thus when the cover is off the planer runs as expected. 🤪. I appreciate your humor. Through the power of observation I have detected that you must must be a sparky! Why? who has Kleins that are not electrician’s Klein screw driver, lineman pliers that are Kleins, and the current meter that I would have called an ampprobe but we know that would have been incorrect to call the current meter an ampprobe. Sort of like calling a fish a precision volt meter. I agree with your final conclusion as to why the switch failed. 😁🛫 great video!
