Hands down the best tutorial on replacing the Cruze thermostat, and I've watched them all! My engine is slightly different, but I was able to make it work. Thanks for the upload.

I'm not sure which engine this is, but it's definitely different than the 2012 Cruze 1.4L Turbo I'm working on now. The thermostat on mine is on the passenger side.

The music sucked, but, turn that down anyway. My 2012 Cruze is getting this treatment when the parts arrive WITH a new coolant reservoir and cap. Awesome video, J. Barraza.

Nice video I have the same car why did you change thermostats water outlet? Was you losing coolant?

For no apparent reason, overheating warning came on, and I thought it was the thermostat again. I ordered a new one. When I got to replaced it, I broke the plastic housing.

How much RTV did you use to stop the leak at the top port for the throttle body heater inlet pipe? I have a small leak there and was wondering how much you used and where you applied it? Just the rim or the inside too?

Is there supposed to be an o-ring or gasket that goes between the housing and the oil cooler pipe? I replaced my housing and have a leak there. Did you use only the gasket goop? Thanks, great video!

I don't know for sure. Mine broke, so I replaced the whole thing with a new makeshift hose. As off today, no leaks.

Thats not the thermostat housing people. Thats a water outlet, themo is on the front left of engine when looking at engine.... edit, the difference is it not being turbo

It has been a while, 201, since I changed the hosing with this same all metal housing but I've recently had another cooling problem. I removed just the thermostat portion for flushing the system only to discover that the housing assembly didn't include the thermostat. Go figure!

8 mm socket? Do you mean an E8 socket? The head on those fastners appear to require an inverse torx socket (namely an E8) unless an 8 mm hex just so happens to fit?

What’s there a reason why you replaced it? My engine marks as overheating so it’s affecting the A/C do you think replacing the thermostat will fix that issue? 🤔

I am on what will be my 6th thermostat in a couple years.. I replace and reset engine light.. All is perfect for a few months.. Then all the sudden the fan starts roaring and check engine light comes on.. Do I try a 3rd different brand or would it have something to do with the housing as well since I haven't replaced the housing at all.. Any ideas would be great... T.i.a.
@jaba19655 жыл бұрын
Not a bad idea, you won't know until you try. This is how mechanical fixing works. Just keep in mind, I replaced mine because it broke. Then one connector broke because of the removal of the housing... so, expect a domino effect. Good luck.

@rubenbearer4800 Жыл бұрын
@@growingreens34 if you are facing your windshield, there is a plastic nut on the upper left side of your radiator. The bolt head is on the side pointing towards your engine. Fill your reservoir, turn on the car and loosen the plastic bolt. When coolant starts to leak up you can tighten. Dont over tighten this bolt because you will destroy the bolt head the next time you take it off. Really simple after your first time.

Please help me where did you get the new vacuum pump line fitting mine just broke what is it called
@jaba19655 жыл бұрын
I did not buy one. I made ono, I bought two black hoses with different diameters. Just follow the line to where it connects on the back of the engine. Remove it and take it to autozone so they can see the diameters and buy the the black pipes with the correct diameters, also, you will need two bracing and a connector with a reduction to connect the pipes. I hope I make sense.
@taylorharrison56675 жыл бұрын
I see what your saying btw what you said makes sense it would just be nice if I could see exactly how you did yours ! This piece broke today and I was supposed to leave for the beach glad it broke while I was home
@jaba19655 жыл бұрын
@@taylorharrison5667 it is a quick fix. I bet, the hard part will be getting the black hoses and the metal connector with the reduction. For that, I recommend to go to an Ace hardware store, maybe the will also have the pressure hoses. Removing of the line on the back is not easy since there is not enough room, but you will get it out. As I said, it's a quick temporary fix. But you know what they "there is nothing more permanent than a temporary fix". I wish I coyld explain better, but you will figure it out, once you take a look.

Should I spend double the money for thermostat and housing or just get thermostat and what's a good price for both or either?
@jaba19655 жыл бұрын
Well, this is what I did. First three times y just bought thermostat. It cost me about $90 at O'Reilly, then second time I bough it in Ebay, took the one I bought at O'Reilly since it was still under warranty, so, it became my spare. This last time I broke the housing, I was forced to buy the housing (Ebay again) , and just happen that it came with the thermostat. I paid about $35. The quality of the housing is not that good. So, at the end of the day I end up with a spare after all. If you don't have to replace the housing, don't do it, I end up breaking the little black pipe and a little leaking, that I had to come back and fix. So, based on this experience, you can decide if is worth it.

@jaba19655 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. I did not buy a new pipe. I fabricated one. If you follow the pipe to where it connects on the rear towards the passenger side, you will see that the diameter of the pipe is bigger. I bought two hoses with the diameters of the two ends (you can measure the lengths that you will need) joined them with a reduction coupling that has the two diameters. Get 4 bracings to connect everything. I hope I described it well.
