Had to replace the axle on the driver's side because it was clicking while in 4 wheel drive. I already did a video on replacing the passenger side so this one is a little shorter.

Really helpful! Going to do both sides of my dads Chevy tracker tomorrow.

It's a common problem. Just did both on my brother's sidekick yesterday.

I just did my driver side axle shaft yesterday. All you have to do is remove is the hub, snap ring and washer. And of course the three bolts on the flange. Once you have done that, go in and turn your steering wheel all the way to the left. Then the axle shaft will come right out. All that extra work is unnecessary.

I had heard before that there was a way to do it without removing the tire. Thanks for letting us know.

my friend was saying you don't even have to jack it up, so Joe Nagel Jr is that true? You just remove the hub, hub nut, and the snap ring like you said. Then turn the steering left and it comes out and you can access the three bolts to the diff?

I have never seen this in person but have read about it. Hopefully he replies back.

This is the 3rd video I've seen replacing CV shafts with used shafts. It's not worth it. New shafts are cheap and blowing a used CV in the bush is a royal pain. You're saving a bucket of coin doing it yourself. Put in new parts fergunusakes. By the way...the comments are right..as per joenagaljr2289. No need to remove the strut. Snap ring/washer on the outboard side, 3 bolts on the inboard flange and turn the wheel hard drivers and the axle slips out by wiggling the inboard past the flange. Works on a XL7 that has even less clearance Clarence. Happy trails all!

I have learned alot since I made this video. I am glad it has gotten people to share the experience and knowledge they have. That's how we all get better.

Would this process be the same for a Chevy tracker?

As far as I know. Yes.

How sure are you that you have to remove the strut bolts?

If you turn the wheel all the way you can get the axle out. In fact you dont even have to take the wheel off.
