There is a recommended tightening sequence for the 12 bolts hand tighten all 12 then 20ft lbs - looking at service manual now

hi Joe. I am working on a dt466E. I had the valve cover off, and noticed a lot of oil coming out under my number six rocker arm. I was just wondering if that is normal or have something else going on there.

Oil is suppose to trickle out not pour. It could be a worn high pressure rail seal or puck. Seals will take care of the problem 80% of the time.

What up Joe, I have a international durastar 4300 sba. I replace the pucks, icp, ipr valve, and have now replace the injectors. I am still having issues with the pucks leaking oil. Any ideal!! I am at a dead end!

Hey there Steve. The pucks are suppose to seep a little bit of oil to allow oil to lubricate the rockers. What issue is your truck giving you.

Is the inside MFdt close to this? Mine is the older single turbo. Having hot start issues. Was going do rail and injector O rings. Soon it cools down and mornings it fires like like one turn.

If the pressure drops on ur high pressure rail. It could be caused by leaking injector seals but it can also be ur ipr. Ipr has a protective screen that u can check. If the screen is broken. Debris is cutting back on flow of oil that would also cause oil pressure to drop to ur injectors. What is the ICP reading when engine is at operating temperature.

@@JoesBusBarn I had planned to pull the valve cover and run a minute to see if I could see oil bubbling up around them. I will check the ipr also. This is all new to me. I have done a lot of gas mechanics and my lil tdi vw stuff but big diesel is new. On learning curve is being a RE bus and fitting, lol. Plan to "Fix" the bus and hope to not have near the norm problems associated with them.

Hi Joe, thanks for sharing your advice and solutions to mechanical failures with us, you know that I just bought an international school truck maxx force model 2009 black top engine and it brings the failure of passing diesel to motor oil, a week passes a It passes two liters of diesel to the oil, the high pressure pump has already been changed, the low pressure pump and the injectors have been changed, and the truck remains the same, it does not present any indicator on the dashboard nor does it throw anything when scanning it With the computer, I have spent more than 2000 dlls and I still have the failure, some tip of where could this leak from diesel to motor oil be being generated? I appreciate any information you can provide me, greetings.

Hey there Carlos. Sounds like you might have not seated your injectors properly (loose or not seated properly). If the old injectors came out tarnished (signs of coolant). You might want to check the injector cups (presses into cylinder head). You already replaced supply pump which would have been my first suspect. Let me know how it goes and if the injectors were the cause of your problem. Hit me up if you have questions.

Hey there Sergio. Those o-rings are the oil rail to injector seals. If oil is leaking out. Your oil pressure at the injector drops. It would if the seals were badly worn. It would cause a hard to start. It all depends on how worn they are brother.

I noticed that when you put everything back together you tighten , do you need to torque any part in such as the the rail and the value cover ?

Hey there Charles. There are torque specs for rail. Rail is 28 to 32 lbs.

Yes sir. It does. Manuals vary in specs. We go with 22 lbs. it’s between the manuals differences.
