Great video man! I haven’t quite determined if I’m going to do just brake pads, or if the grinding noise is something more, but one thing is for sure… your video with those torque values will be the standard! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the video. Really helped! On a side note, your voice is almost identical to one of my favorite youtubers. Pecos Hank. He’s an awesome storm chaser. Pretty neat!

Was looking everywhere for how to install those spring tabs. Everytime I look up a 2017 model they show something completely different. They show spring tabs for the pads being installed in the outsides of the caliper. Was getting frustrated by it. Thanks a bunch.

Great video! @6:45 is it necessary to do this step to put the c clamps on the old pads and pistons? I don’t have any c clamps right now that’s why I ask.
@s33therfan2 жыл бұрын
You can use a flat screwdriver while the caliper is still bolted on and push the pistons back by prying against the old pad. Thanks for watching.

Does this model give you a warning when the pads are getting that low? And great video.
@s33therfan2 жыл бұрын
I do not believe this year came with that feature. Thank you for the great feedback.

@@s33therfan Okay thanks. Mine is the Interceptor model, curious if these types of vehicles usually have the brake wear indicators, the little metal clips.

Great video. Thanks for posting. Nice close up shots too, I know they are hard to get right. Those cicadas are getting after it. You in Texas?

What year is your explorer? We have a 2017 and I could not figure out the clip system. I got car quest premium gold pads that were recommended for my vehicle and just could not figure it out. Watched your video like 10 different times lol.
@lindaolszowy69952 жыл бұрын
Does your Explorer have heavy Duty Brakes? After mid 2013 Ford standardized on heavy duty brakes which have different hardware (clips) and larger rotors (525 mm). I know because I have a 2014 and ordered pads and rotors for standard brakes. After starting the job with the car on jack stands I had to stop everything and get the correct parts.

You cleaned the dry pin ok but the bore is still caked in crap, a bore brush and some brake cleaner will flush it out.

At 5:45 - What is the greenish-looking grease you put on that bolt/pin?
@s33therfan4 жыл бұрын
It was either my heavy duty lucas grease or my assembly lube . Seems like the caliper pin was rusted and siezed a little , and I had to work it some to get it moving properly. Thank you for watching.
