Another very helpful video. You do an outstanding job, and the camera is always on the right spot. Wish I had a mechanic like you in my maintenance team. 5 stars!!

@@s33therfan I found with my 05, with the front row of the front valve cover bolts, 3 of the 4 could be reached, with a swivel, but very close to a straight line through narrow gaps in the radiator support frame with a long enough extension.

What an excellent video! Lots of detail and excellent camera work. The camera shots are well illuminated and I can actually see what you're you are talking about. I'm in the process of replacing the subframe on my wife's Escape. When I took off those plastic wheel-well panels, I was able to see just how oily and disgustingly grimy the engine is. I figured while I have so much removed that I might as well replace all of the potentially leaky gaskets. The whole engine is so oily that it is hard to know what isn't leaking. Thanks for all of the info!

My guy. I got a suggestion for you. You have ads on but a lot of times you suggest replacements for parts. if you sign up for a linkcode on Amazon. With the parts you are using to replace whatever (Ie such as the various Felman Pro gaskets but some people do even tools too) they are prob all avail on Amazon and if you put a referral link to those product in your description you get a portion of kickback credit for directing the sale to Amazon. Quite a few people shop on Amazon for auto parts depending on how soon they need the job done. So maybe think about getting a linkcode and updating your descrips
excellent video and commentary throughout, i will be using your video as i do this job on my 2008 escape. however i will wash my engine first. i am just wandering if you kept track as to how long it took to complete entire repair. thanks for sharing.

Washing the engine is an excellent idea . I believe I had spent about 3 days working 3 to 4 hours per afternoon . That was the entire project oil pan an all . I made another video on that part. I always give the rtv a day to set up also. The cleaning was the most time consuming part of all. Best of luck on yours , I know this project was well worth the effort and the suv is still leak free. Thank you for watching.

Hi have you ever used AT-205 in an engine with oil leaks. I used it on my 2002 Mazda Tribute, the last time I took it for a registration check (Australia) the mechanic who did the check could not believe it was not leaking oil. I did replace the valve cover gaskets as I did have oil leaking into a few of the plug wells when I first bought the vehicle. But also had the timing cover leaks and rear main leak, but AT-205 reduced it to almost nothing.

I have not tried it but it sounds like a pretty good product. Thank you for sharing.

One more question…. For my 2012 ford escape v6 3.0l, After everything is put together the torqued to factory spec of 9ft lb , there is a 2.5mm spacing all around the valve cover and the engine head
@s33therfan6 ай бұрын
I believe its normal , and you may be able to see the gasket if its blue. I think it has to do with the way it mounts , so the gasket can do its job properly. Thanks for the question.

thanks for this detailed video, @35.28, while taking crank shaft pulley bolt from my 2012 ford escape v6, The shaft rotated reverse at least one full cycle, is there any timing issues will happen because of this?
@s33therfan6 ай бұрын
It will be fine. It is not good to rotate them counterclockwise but I have done it before with no issues. Thanks for the question.

One more question…. For my 2012 ford escape v6 3.0l, After everything is put together the torqued to factory spec of 9ft lb , there is a 2.5mm spacing all around the valve cover and the engine head with fel-pro gasket sandwiched in between two. Is this 2.5mm space normal?

Have you ever replaced the camshaft pulley seal? Where the water pump runs off of. Great video! Thanks for posting it
@s33therfan2 жыл бұрын
I did not , this one was not leaking too bad. However this would be the time to replace it as well , before doing the valve cover gasket. Thanks for watching.

Definitely is. Lol I did find out how to do it! I appreciate your help man!

Oil leaks were fixed 100 percent. This suv is still running great and no leaks or drips. On another note I still lose some oil but it its from the engine burning it. I would have never known this without fixing the leaks thiugh. Thank you for the feedback.

Question: what's the reason for the RTV (and only in those places) when you have a new gasket fitted?
@s33therfan Жыл бұрын
It just goes at the junctions , where different parts bolt together. The surface is never perfect so rtv is always used. Thanks for the feedback.
