Replacing Rear Blower Motor AC Resistor Chevy Trailblazer 2002 EXT LT tips & tools

Learn how to replace your rear blower motor AC resistor. You can tell this part is bad if you cannot set the fan speed for one or more options or if your rear fan/blower motor runs constantly no matter what setting it is on. I show you the steps needed for the repair and share some tips and tricks for removal and installation. I also show the fuse to pull if your resistor completely goes out and causes the fan to run constantly.

So there is two nuts you access on the bottom right above the exhuast. You can take those out and lay the assy way out and you can easily get to this part.

I have a 05 Chevy ext and my ac works fine for the front but in the 2nd and 3rd row they only blow to the feet

Just got the F***we out today! 2hrs in the Florida heat. Well the quarterpanel baking in the sun will burn your knuckles FYI. Only good news is that the" hole of no return" has a access? Chevy was thoughtfully nice to put a rubber plug under the truck you can remove and retrieve everything you drop there. And you will drop things in there!!! Have fun

Oh wow! I know the feeling... I wish I knew about that plug. I would have felt a lot less worried about parts falling, but then we wouldn't have name like "the hole of no return" ha xD Glad the repair worked for you!

I have a 2004 Trailblazer LS EXT and my rear blower will not work at all. Resistor???? I was just wondering if it is all the same from your 2002 as it would be on a 2004. Thanks!

The repair should be very similar as 2002-2009 are similar models. I'd check the blower motor fuses first. The rear A/C shouldn't turn off if a resistor goes out. Matter of fact mine wouldn't turn off once the resistor went out unless I pulled its fuse.

so my rear is now blowing at all. Any idea what i should check first to eliminate certain things? I dont get any speeds at all. I know which GM products especially tahoes etc the front resistor goes out causing it to go only 1-2 speeds etc. But on this my whole rear isnt blowing so im trying to see what i should check first to eliminate a bad blower etc.

Very basic but check to make sure your front AC control isn’t switched to off. Also I read an article talking about your rear AC relay can be a reason it doesn’t turn on. Hey dude, I am not sure what is the problem with my rear AC. When I turn it on, it runs and stops, after a while it runs and again it stops. Can you let me know what is the exact issue please? Thanks

So I'm not sure of the exact issue but that could be a resistor issue. Mine would go on and off and then stayed on all the time after the resistor broke, even when the car was turned off (kinda weird lol). How long does it go off for? The main issue I faced was the rear blower motor was constantly running even when the car was turned off with no power. Also, I noticed prior to this that the rear fan speeds would not always work correctly.

Called GM to order it from them so it would be an OEM part.. they said it had been discontinued and was unavailable. That's why it's so expensive. Currently autozone has it for $168 and Orielys has it for $177.
