I wouldn't have thought to use the board with the rebar ties like you did. Great idea!

Would have fill rest of hole with play sand rather than spray foam. But thanks for documenting this. I'm sure there are many other people out there that will learn and hopefully help someone who can't afford the overpriced 10k+ for this repair. Don't let the super plumbers get you down. There is code and then there is what is practical. Other that that pvc to pvc joint which is ok the rest all seems good to me but I'm just a lay person. I want to add a kitchen drain in my slab for kitchen remolded on an exterior wall and this video really helped.

Great job 👏

There are saws to make that job go a lot faster. Basically a chain-saw with a diamond chain and water to cool it and keep down dust. 100 times faster.

Plumbing looks pretty good. I was actually suprised. A couple things though, why didnt you just use a pvc coupling when connecting the new pipe to the old? And what the hell is going on underneath your kitchen sink? It all was good until you piped you ptrap and drainage to the sink. How does itdrain cause it looks over complicated for some simple, like why not use a 90 coming off your disposal if your gonna have that much drop? Or extend your tee up. Good job though. Not everyone can plumb.

Curious if anyone has any experience with a product like this... amzn.to/2SVakP4 Seems like a much cheaper option with WAY less work. Thoughts?

Only two things I would have done different would have been to completely fill the hole with dirt or grave. Rent a jack hammer not that little thing. Other than that great job
@AtHomeDIY4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the positive feedback! Yeah, not renting a jackhammer cost me a lot of time and energy, totally agree there. I contemplated filling in the hole but couldn't think of a good reason to do so. Curious of your reasoning for that...

Which layperson comes up with the idea of laying cast iron pipes in the ground? KG pipe belongs in there...
@bigdaddypatty24204 жыл бұрын
This is why you should always hire licensed plumbers and not handymen. Pretty much all of that is illegal. Disposals can only be straight discharged or discharged into the p trap. You roughed your drain in to high so you have a backwards trap, not to mention the double trap, you used a no hub instead of a PVC to PVC band or just a coupling, and the fernco you used to tie into the vent is also illegal. What a mess and bad practice for safe disposal of waste water. Plumbers exist for a reason.

I dont understand, how somebody can replace such high qulity steal pipe with plastic. Its ugly. And why you dont let there hole with deck for next cleaning?
@AtHomeDIY4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mirek, appreciate the feedback! Unfortunately cast iron pipes have a "lifetime" and the cheapest/easiest and most affordable fix is PVC piping which will last decades. Even the professionals would have done the same repair with PVC as well. As this is a slab foundation I thought it best to repair the hole with concrete and steel re enforcement to return the structure as close to 100% as possible. Cheers!
@mireknovacek96804 жыл бұрын
@@AtHomeDIY yes, but I would let the hole, I would place under 4 pillars and I would have secret space, or cellar for vegetables and potatoes. And cheapest or easiest is only for poor people:)

Current standard plumbing practice in USA dictates the use of PVC, polyurethane, or copper. Steel is outdated (this video clearly demonstrates why).
@mireknovacek96804 жыл бұрын
@@decentgarage I would use copper, or bronze, but it must be so massive as the steel original.

@@mireknovacek9680 You would have to make your own. It does not exist.
