I cant get mine to stop leaking from the pipe connecting the two cartridges. It’s doing my head in.

I did read that many no longer recommend silicone grease or vaseline (petroleum jelly) for lubricating the O-rings, saying that may degrade the rubber - is now recommended a food-safe lubricant - also, I think for safety you really need to clean the filter casings inside with a bleach solution, I can't recall the ratio of bleach to water to use to clean them.

Any tips on leaks coming directly from the filters? Having trouble after simply tightening the white 'cases'. Seems like the gaskets aren't sealing correctly and have to repeatedly unscrew them. Thank you.

Do you recommend to soak the filters before placing them inside to take off any dust from the manufacturer?

I never have - a small bit of carbon water comes out when you first flush the system for a minute or so, but it is not much, and not harmful.
