Replacing Supercharger Pulley Bearing On Mercedes SL55 AMG m113k

Use the old bearing to press the new bearing in, when pressing in a bearing you want to press on the outside race which doesn't put any pressure on the bearings or cage (you're not missing balls from the bearing, the cage just melted and flung itself out) just trying to help as I've been a mechanic for over 20 years, I've seen people use a bfh and wood to do this job, you did much better 😀 nice car and nice dog, thanks for the video

Totally agree. I did this the other day with a press. I cut up my old bearing and only used the outer ring only to push it down. I used an angle grinder to cut it up. The outer ring has cuts in it so it comes out no problem afterwards.

When I installed my SC bearing. I pressed the old bearing out of the pulley. Then froze the new bearing in the freezer and heated the pulley in a toaster oven. The bearing literally fell into the pulley with no pushing of a press. Easiest install ever.

I think I need to replace my super charger bearing I have a 2003 sl55 amg And it appears to be missing some of the ball bearings

Did you jack the engine to access the supercharger bolt? I can’t access mine with the electric wrench like you do, the radiator is blocking the way.

The sl55 I did not have to. But on my Cls55 I did I made a video showing it with my Cls55 that might help you

@@Nd_72 ah I see, mine is G55 so the radiator is bigger and blocking access. I checked your video, you didn’t have to unplug anything before jacking up the engine? I will remove the fan and try to lift the engine a little bit to access the bolt like you do with the electric wrench. I couldn’t remove this bolt manually, it’s stuck

Unrelated question… I have an ‘06 SL55 (bone stock) and has that pesky ticking noise coming from the driver’s side. Since you have a ton of experience with these what would you suggest? I was going to try an engine flush and switch to amsoil 5w40.
