Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that I adjusted the panhard bar right after shooting this video. I still need to dial it in a bit more, but it’s much better. Next video I’ll be modifying the weight jacks to fit the S60🤟

Hey Matt, what brakes did you use on your new s-60? Did you get them from strange? And did you order the axel to fit your vette wheels bolt pattern?
@techjunkie4786
@techjunkie4786 4 жыл бұрын
The Strange 12 bolt or 8.8 is the better rear end for your application. The 9” and Dana60 sap so much power. Drivetrain loss is a big deal, and heavy rear ends react slower to road undulations which hurts handling performance. Your Dana60 will be bulletproof, though.

I think GM owned Saginaw gear they made steering gears and Transmissions .. Then there was Muncie and Borg Warner who were Private Companies.. GM owned Rochester that made carbs and fuel injection.. I bought a complete 9 inch with Wilwood disc brakes for my 1977 TA from Strange and it was hassle free bolt in and a super strong upgrade. I almost went with with the S60, but the 9 inch was more than good enough for my street car. Great choice you made and you can't go wrong with Strange Engineering and they make some awesome stuff.

So glad to see you went with the strange S60! You won’t be disappointed! It is actually stronger than a 9”, as it has a 9.75” ring gear as apposed to a 9” ring gear in the 9”rear end! The case is stranges own design, and has the torque arm mount cast into the housing and is a lot stronger then the welded on makeshift brackets on the 8.8 and 9”! I have a strange S60 and recommend to you to get one. Again, you won’t be disappointed. By the way, the extra weight of the S60 will help you slightly to hook up at the track, as that weight is directly over the rear tires, and as low as you can get it. Make certain you follow their break in procedure before you beat on the rear end at all!!!
@jeffbrown6155
@jeffbrown6155 5 жыл бұрын
don't want to burst your bubble,,the thing that makes the 9" better/stronger is the pinon support. at the back of the pinon gear.. it takes a larger load without deflection. just so ya know..and ya can swap gears in 40 min with just 1 guy doing it..but any upgrade is better then what ya had..
@kennydemartini2169
@kennydemartini2169 2 жыл бұрын
@@jeffbrown6155 I was going to make the same comment about the pinion support. I don't believe in the break-in procedure nonsense either. I have set up hundreds of rear ends, and a majority of them when straight to the dragstrip with little or no miles on them.

I just discovered that Stagner makes their own rear end based on improved Dana 60 .. I was just reading that Ford 9" has 3.5% more drag than a 12 bolt GM in the high numerical gear ratios 9" used much beefier Pinion gears however.. To get a strong Ford 9" it really needs various custom built by aftermarket improvements.. I am looking to replace a 10 bolt from 79 Camaro but I want a 4 Link suspension would could add $2,500 more to project .. plus I want to upgrade to disc brakes which I do not have now, My Decision which manufacturer with will have to do with the complete package and having the right brackets for my 4 link .. Good to See 5th Gen Cameo at lest has torque bars..

Did you have any trouble with body tunnel clearance with the torque arm bolt heads when hitting harsh bumps? I have heard that the Moser Ford 9" was having trouble with that interference. This is why I was thinking of the Hawks 8.8. I will be running a 500 hp 383 ahead of a modified 700R4 on my 89 IROC. I really enjoy your comments and teaching.

Look s great man, is the panhard rod adjustable? Just because it looks like the axle may be offset to the left (drivers side) which may give the passenger side that height look that it has, may just be the shadows from my point of view in the video. Beautiful rear end. If ya don't put the weight jacks back in hit me up I'd be interested. No rush though if ya want to try to make them work.

Thanks. Im not sure of the gearing in the tr6060 compared to a t-56, but if its anything close, I would recommend a 3.73 or a 3.55 if you plan on getting serious drag racing it. 3.91 would be better than a 4.10, but depending on what you mph, a 3.91 would be cutting it close.
