A vacuum brake booster (VUT) greatly facilitates the efforts of the driver when depressing the brake pedal. But VUT works due to the vacuum created by the vacuum pump. Also, due to the vacuum, the N75 and USR N18 turbine control valves are operated.
Therefore, in the event of a leakage of the VUT, not only does it become a very “hard” brake pedal, the engine traction also disappears, because the VUT consumes a lot of vacuum and there is not enough vacuum on the N75.
To replace the VUT it is necessary:
- drain the brake fluid from the tank
- remove the tank from the brake valve
- unscrew the nuts of the brake valve
- disconnect the brake valve
- remove the spacer bar between the glasses
- disconnect the brake pedal from the VUT rod
- remove the VUT and replace
- install a new VUT
- bleed the brake system
