Not the right year of my quad I’m glad to see you passing on the knowledge and your daughter wanting to learn it! You have a good story.

You should make a video on how you made the lift. Seems to work great!

Great video as always, now you have a mechanic in training, you'll have to find them their own atv to rebuild!

Can you do a video on the rear brakes as well?
@thehonestmechanic Жыл бұрын
Not sure if you watched my Big Bear playlist but I have explained the rear brake in a previous video. It's older so the quality isn't great. Its near the end of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIeopZ2go7mSebc.

I have a 1993 model and I believe the hub (the large nut needs to come off to take the hub off) is a little different from the one you have. Do you have a method of bleeding the front brakes (mine has the original fluid and could use a flush). Have you replaced the front brake flex lines on yours? Do you have a parts source you use?
@thehonestmechanic Жыл бұрын
As for parts, I source it either from Yamaha or my local Royal distributing. My brake bleeding procedure is to 1. make sure the reservoir is kept full 2. pump the pedal or level and hold 3. open the bleeding screw until it stops flowing and close it before releasing pressure. There are tools available but I find this method works just as well. Also, believe it or not, my flex lines are original. Hope this helps

Get a small table or something off the ground and lay out the parts as u take them off.

That's a great idea. Definitely makes re-assembly easier

Is it possible to a disc brake conversion on that model?
@englishcat63552 жыл бұрын
Yes it's possible, but you need a lot of parts from a Kodiak.

Maybe a 1.5" wheel spacers? To clear the front tires
@thehonestmechanic2 жыл бұрын
It's really not much. I can probably get away with a 1/2 inch spacer. Maybe even some washers but I really don't want to widen it out. It's fun to pass newer bikes cause they just don't fit
@johnperez9364010 ай бұрын
Set it down on its own weight and the tires will clear.

No you CANNOT reuse a cotter pin. They are a one time use.

Been beating on my drums for an hour, they are not coming off.

Have you tried removing the rubber plug and backing off the adjuster?
@chrisheffernan6600Ай бұрын
@@thehonestmechanic Yes, wasn't aware there were two adjusters until I studied the parts catalog. I finally got them off. The splines on the CV axle were seized to the Drum/Hub assy. I smashed it with a hammer a few times, then used a 2 jaw puller, with two nuts installed reverse, and yanked them off. Still took about an hour of messing with each drum. Antiseize is our friend!!!
