It starts the way it starts. I would leave it alone but I would change the blade which is one of the most important part. After you put in a new blade, sell it as is.

No more washing no more oiling the wheels but how about putting a new blade on? That's the most important part of the whole EDGER

if it's worn down, then yes replacing the blade would be a good idea.

Let it go like it is. I oil the deck wheels on the battery job every other time. The pivot weels need grease every 20 hours and it's got 50+ now. So far, so good but it's just for here. 72% battery left last time and I've just been beeboping along, not flying. Happy week

@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE Me too. Our 2 work fine and a neighbor got one too. He'd come over and slobber on the Stihl when Toots was trimming. Looks like he got a Toro. It's red. Mowed today and 74%.Oiled the deck wheels though.

I would use it a bit, and see if the hard starting problem improved. It could be sticky rings, which might clear up with use. You've already fixed it once, so I wouldn't suspect the carb or valves. I'd probably do a compression test, too.
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE4 ай бұрын
good idea.
@larryz244 ай бұрын
I would clean the carb (ultrasonically) and make sure the jets are not compromised. Also, a valve adjustment might help with a hard start.

It could use a slightly higher throttle. Maybe a slight carb adjustment. And the oil looked black.

Isn't that a red choke lever behind the air box?
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE4 ай бұрын
yes but according to the instructions it's used for when the weather is cold. I don't remember what temperature it stated but something in the 40's I think
@tjclarke46044 ай бұрын
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE So, you going to try the choke or what?
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE4 ай бұрын
tried it, it oddly made the starting process even more unpredictable. Sometimes it would start in 4 pulls, others times, it didn't start at all. So not using it, makes more sense until the weather gets colder.

Probably readjust the valve lash to make it easier to start l. I know that I have bought my dad a new Chonda GX35 engine for an early fathers day present because I tried even JB welding, honing the deep scratches in the cylinder & replacing the piston rings which caused it to burn oil after 21 years of hard use. It still started first go but it began to drink oil & blow smoke, the problem is that the honing increased the bore size & the engine drinks even more oil now & it keeps on fouling up the spark plug & it won't run because of that,so for $125 AUD in eBay including postage I ordered a brand new Chinese clone instead of a genuine $500 AUD Honda GX35 engine. I will see how that goes & I will even buy a new Chonda cylinder kit to rebuild the original engine !

hope it goes well!

Are you supposed to press the purge bulb 10 times or what does the 10× symbol with the finger on the bulb stand for?
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE4 ай бұрын
yes, it wants you to press it 10 times, because on an empty fuel system it takes several presses just to bet fuel up to the carb.

Hey bro what's up? Honestly I would leave it as is and inform the person who is going to purchase this edger. My question to you is which of the two makes of edger would you prefer to use? This type of edger or the one that looks like a string trimmer?
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE4 ай бұрын
yes, but the engines on these are much bigger than the string trimmer version, mainly because of it needing to dig into the dirt

Ive heard the stihl fs91 r is a 4stroke that takes 2 cycle mix. Is tuning the carb for one of them as simple as a normal 2 cycle trimmer?
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE4 ай бұрын
I'd rather phrase it, as a 2 stroke with valves. That would be a better description to me. I find tuning them just the same as the 2 stroke version

What do I do if I got a ryobi 2 stroke trimmer with new fuel lines but leaks gas like crazy out of the places where they go in

not sure what places you're asking about but if it's leaking at the ports on the carb, it should mean your fuel lines are too big.
