Well done. I watched another video that took the whole machine from the front which was far more screws and parts to get access. From the back is easier if you find all of the screws before you go crazy trying to loosen the back like I did. I just greased the bearing and am hoping for the best but if the squeak returns I’ll order the part.

Good video! Thank you. I was able to replace the idler from the front bottom panel of my Maytag5000. Saved me about 100 screws from having to do from back. Wasn’t too tedious but the screw was opposite than righty tighty.. runs like a champ now! Thanks again

awesome!!! glad it helped. i tried to replace from the front panel, but my model was so jammed up with brackets and other parts, i couldn’t get my hands in there.

I wish I would have found your video sooner, I have the exact same pair for 13yrs and started to hear that squeaky sound a few days ago, we replaced all the wheels and the little bitty one, took 3 hours lol

dang! i hope the video was helpful regardless. i have realized it was a little long-winded in parts… ours is still holding up great with no squeaks after replacing the idler pulley. have a great day and i hope you have fixed that squeak permanently!

Hi Layne, @6:55, do you know how tight are you supposed to tighten that bolt? if too tight, then it won't activate the switch when belt breaks. thanks

i just played it by ear and tightened it about as tight as the old one.

i don't have the packaging anymore, but checking the video, i pulled this number from a still shot: W10837240. a quick google search of that does indeed pull up that part, so that should be it. thanks!

WD40 is a degreaser so no wonder why you had to reapply every 5 cycles. Next time use high temperature grease.
