I thought the lining looked good until I saw the replacement,it looks outstanding and as if it was the original. I hope people appreciate the amount of work, experience and talent that goes into the replacing of the lining.

I agree with everything you did and it looks fantastic! ❤ I'm only going to mention one point about the labels. Yes sew the original labels back in but I think we might think about adding your own label too! Why not you have added to this coats history ! ❤

Loved watching you do this! I bought my daughter a heavy wool coat that had a label showing it was made in China in 1939!! But it didn’t have a lining or hood so I bought fabric to line it, and a good quality second hand hoodie in a matching colour. I lined the coat, making the pattern to fit, and added the hood from the sweatshirt as well as the cuffs inside the sleeves. That was 15 years ago and she still wears it!

Beautiful work. I would like to see always do the sleeve cuffs properly. Sew the underside with the liner coming out the hand then bring the liner through and sew it back. Make the sleeve ends look clean! Arm going in and out; with the seams exposed; it will unravel and look ratty pretty quick.

Great tutorial! But if I only need to replace the sleeve lining - I already removed the old lining and cut new ones - do I have to pick open the bottom lining of the coat to turn the coat inside out so I can attach the new sleeve lining?
@DowntownTailoring
@DowntownTailoring 2 ай бұрын
You can sew the sleeves' lining to the hem first, and then you can sew the shoulders by hand. I'm doing so on this video that I had to open the sleeves It is a different job, but it finishes the lining as I'm proposing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/op6Zq2t4er50jKM Good luck! 🥰

I’m so glad to have found your channel! I hope you’ll consider doing a video on altering an armhole that is too small. ~ I recently purchased a beautiful sleeveless dress at a thrift shop, but when the previous owner altered it, she cut off the excess seems. Any tips on altering this to make the armhole bigger? I’d really appreciate any tips you can provide me. Thank you for all your helpful videos! ❤

Will do! But in the meantime, consider scooping the lower part of the armhole or insert a wedge. Cheers 😊

Would love to know a good source for that wonderful, thick, flannel backed satin lining. I have some in a coat that I plan to refashion, it is over 30 years. Old, and a good melton wool. But my searching has yielded a kasha lining that is thin and worthless for such a coat, just as your customer saw in this wonderful coat. Beautiful. Would be happy to order worldwide to get my hands on some yardage for a different coat.

It’s the first time I have seen lining in a duffel coat. It’s usually the tartan on the inside and Gloverall especially. But the coat is not old and may not even be Kosher. Yes it was added God knows why. Duffels are either tartan wool or wool fleece on the inside.

It's worth doing if it were a legitimate, necessary repair. For the owner to want to replace a lining because the colour is perhaps too "pinkish" is nothing more than vanity. I see it as misguided.
@DowntownTailoring
@DowntownTailoring Жыл бұрын
Hi. I'm sorry I didn't explain it well because of the editing. The pinkish color had a kind of ombre like it was stain. If you see it carefully you can see it the minute 2:00 . Hope this helps.

It seems a waste of resources to replace a perfectly good lining in this coat. modern linings may not last so well as this vintage one! The Hem should be sealed up to be honest, a loose hem attracts dirt & fluff to the inside of the coat & a sealed hem looks more professional & tidy.
