A good thing to keep in mind when removing high tension parts with springs, I have found disassembling them inside a plastic bag to be extra cautious is very nice. If something happens to fly out of there it will last safely inside the bag.

The easiest and cheapest solution to decrease the trigger pull weight is replacing only the trigger spring with a JP Enterprise reduced power hammer spring from their reduced power spring kit (it will only run you $10). This will also allow you to use your original trigger group components. Never replace the hammer spring with the JP Enterprise reduced power hammer spring as it can result in light primer strikes on steel-cased ammo (only recommended on JP Enterprise trigger group parts).

Darith Yim Hi, Darith. I totally agree - and that's actually one of the things I've been talking about trying next over on SigForum.com. First, I'm going to try the ALG trigger spring (since it's already here) to see if that makes any difference. Thanks!

Put a Geissele SSA trigger in mine. This is what they had to say: "Thank you for contacting us. The SSA is a great choice for the MPX platform. Customers have had success installing and using the SSA trigger in the MPX. Additionally, the trigger bridge is not needed with our triggers. Our triggers are robust and even if you do run into an issue, we will stand behind our products. I hope this helps. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance." Thank You, Charlie

+Future World Media I find that easy to believe, Charlie. Bill Geissele commented on my blog post on the subject, and said pretty much the same thing. :)

Appreciate your very informative video. I just put my 4th Geissele SSA-E trigger into my Sig MCX as it had absolutely the worst trigger I've experience in my life(gritty, shitty , and #9-11oz. on average using a digital Lyman gauge). Shame on Sig for building such fine weapons, then shipping them with the single worst trigger I've ever felt, including a couple of flintlocks pieces. I built better triggers for my rubber band guns in Junior High school. Pulling the grip for 180 degree safety rotation applies when installing aftermarket triggers into the MCX also. Again, pull the grip very slowly and straight or those detent springs can go into orbit. Also make sure the detent plungers are inserted properly. If you look closely the smaller diameter one is ever so slightly different on each end. When you put the rear receiver takedown pin in make sure it is oriented/rotated properly so it is captured by the detent plunger or the next time you pull the takedown pin out it will come all the way out and you'll end up pulling the grip again to get all aligned properly. The MCX does not have that nylon piece.

Steve, you are a hoot! Great video, all around. The stock trigger is the WORST I have seen on any firearm. A bad trigger on a quality firearm is like a set of shit tires on a sportscar. Heck with the warranty.

Thanks, +Richard Hawkins ! :) And the good news is that SIG has updated their stance, and it no longer voids the warranty. I now run a Geissele in my MPX. :)
@vettesrule118 жыл бұрын
It does not void your warranty on the gun , it just will not cover any damage to an aftermarket trigger
@an79847 жыл бұрын
FYI the MPX trigger can be removed without removing the Grip or safety. I did it, and I installed a new trigger the same. No need to remove Grip or Safety. I pushed forward on the trigger and it all popped right out.

Thanks for creating this video and posting on the forums! Please keep us updated. Also, have you notice any cosmetic wear around the charging handle/upper area?
@thor-dx8sz7 жыл бұрын
the bolt carrier is set lower than an AR-15 bolt carrier so it talks to hammer back further than an AR-15 will and it can bump the disconnect during cause it to release early and can also reset the trigger very forcefully if you're continuously squeezing it it would reset then release either as the bolt closes or after it's already closed which could cause ride home malfunctions or fast fire pickup

Thanks for the video. New MPX owner and not happy with the stock trigger, which, unfortunately, I compare to the Geissele SSA on my AR. I've got a Geissele 2 Stage on order for the Sig. I read the comment by Geissele that the geometry of their triggers made the Sig trigger bridge unnecessary. He did not make that claim about the ALG triggers. Good news about Sig changing their warranty policy.

@TonyPham: Yes, I've noticed the same wear under the charging handle as everyone else. I'm thinking of trying the paperclip trick, or seeing if I can fab a shim that can do the job.

I just installed a Geissele SD-C in mine. i fought with the stock trigger group for about 10 minutes, wiggling it and messing with the safety i was able to get everything out and the new one back in without removing the grip. however it would have saved me some time to remove the grip.

Very informative thanks for taking this time and sharing. No doubt this stock trigger was way way more heavy than I expected based on hype.

Great video I picked up the Copperhead and it had a hideous trigger actually maxed out my wheeler trigger gauge over 9 Lbs.I have used the the JP trigger spring kit under $12 enhanced reliability red and yellow in the past on a couple ARs So decided to order a set for my MPX I did not remove my grip and installed in about a half hour taking my time.I ended up with a 5.05 pull 👍 if this didn’t work was going to go with a Timney drop in $200.00 MPX.Love wen I can save a 🦌... 🇺🇸🍻🤜🏻

So, @Steve Jenkins, how would they know you ever had a non stock trigger in? Say you put an aftermarket trigger in. You then have an issue with another part of the gun. Something unrelated to the trigger group. You then take your trigger out, put the stock in with the bridge. You then call sig and send it back. How would they ever know?
@SteveJenkins9 жыл бұрын
+Gunner's Corner The only way they'd know is if you put a video on KZbin of your new trigger (wink wink). So of course, I TOTALLY haven't upgraded my trigger... (cough cough). :)

Exactly. Long as you send it back to them with the stock trigger in.

I don't have a way to measure the trigger weight but I polished the factory trigger group with a polishing stone on a dremel that is meant to polish dental crowns to a high shine without removing hardly any metal and it really helped reduce the trigger pull. I think I'm going to stick with this for now and maybe looking into a hiperfire trigger later. Do you have any experience with those triggers?

Why couldn't you just profile the ALG disconnector to match the stock disconnector profile? A couple minutes with a file or Dremel, some bluing agent and BAM! ALG trigger with stock bridge.
@SteveJenkins9 жыл бұрын
Hi +Jamie McCarthy. Thanks for the comment. That might totally work. And in many cases, I fully support taking a Dremel to a gun, and have done so! However, my MPX is my primary bed-side home defense gun, and I have a "no Dremel" policy for firearms on which I bet my life... for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that I don't want to modify it in a way that could lower reliability. Second, and just as importantly, if a firearm is involved in a home defense situation and the intruder is injured or killed, the firearm will be confiscated as evidence. Even if the homeowner is cleared of any criminal charges, he/she is always open to a civil wrongful death or injury case against the homeowner. And if an attorney can show that the homeowner modified the gun in a way to make it more likely to go off, or less "safe," or anything to that effect, it could mean losing the case. I don't want to take that chance, and so my personal preference is to keep my home defense guns either 100% stock, or only modify parts that are approved by the manufacturer. But that's just my personal choice, and if you or anyone else wants to go a different route, I won't argue against it. :)

Range TimeNetwork Bill Geissele actually responded on my blog to explain his take on the issue. He said "HK guns also have the bridge. High impulse guns will toss the hammer back violently so that the hammer will hit the disconnector. By repeatedly striking the disconnector it will actually fracture over time. As a trigger similar to the Sig the ALG trigger may have this problem. However, the Geissele triggers are designed so that the bridge is not needed and the hi velocity of the bolt carrier will not effect it. And even if there was a problem Geissele's golden warrenty is always there to help you out."
@RangeTimeNetwork9 жыл бұрын
Steve Jenkins OMG!! that is so slick and well worth its weight in gold.. thanks. I will be quoting you. :-_0 I am just happy that i was seeing the issue.. it was the slamming back of the bolt hitting the disconnector that caused the issue. anyway- thanks for the follow up. Lets keep chatting! all the best mike-

Steve Jenkins Thanks for the video. So Geissele Triggers are good to go? If something was to break, it most likely will be something in the trigger control group and not on the receiver? Just picked up my MPX this morning, and I'm not too fond of the trigger. Thanks
@SamFisher19578 жыл бұрын
first off It voids the warranty only if you take the hammer stop off the trigger. second when changing or mods to any firearm voids it any way. look at it this way your not going to buy a car and add stuff to the car and take it in win there are problems because they will not warranty the work need its the same. I only see the hammer as being longer to aid in reliable of fireing.
