Replacing timing belt on 3.5 Chrysler V6 1998-2010

I have a 99Prowler with only 8300 miles on it .Should the belt should be ok

Rubber gets old and brittle....so you need to change it due to age.

We've got one with 3000 miles, sat for about 16 years. We turned it on about every 4-5 (everytime we moved storage places) years but this last time we started it maybe 5 times on and off to get it on and off the trailer and park it in to its new storage. Ran good but we tried to start it the next day just to move it a little bit and got a crank no start with the sound of valves slapping pistons. Verified with a borescope. Timing belt is still on but it must have skipped some teeth somehow when we turned it off. Because it ran fine before we shut it off. Maybe a tensioner failure but I'd play it safe and just do your belt and tensioner
