To see the winning FORD GT40s (and of course, here them !!), is what I personally found the top part of this show. To see the latest generations of the FORD family still so involved. And also it was great to see so many beautiful restorations !!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful event. Magnificent machines, the Lancia has this beautiful italian styling that has less chrome and a more simple elegance than french coachwork, and prefigure post war styling. Your point that Ferrari P3/P4 could take the trophy is interesting. These are competition machine and it's a pleasure to see the passion for these wonderful machines. I have the DVD Victory by design of Mr De Cadenet, it's fantastic, the competition Maseratis are amazing. But, outside Pebble beach there is no event that focus on the appreciation on the craftsmanship and the beauty of the pre war cars. There are other concours but they rarely focus that much on the 20s/30s. If Pebble beach changes direction, pre-war cars will take a blow and these cars deserve all the appreciation that this main event create. The second reason I might disagree is that competition cars are meant to be driven hard, like at Goodwood or LeMans classic and it's better that way that to stay in a perfect shape in a museum. my 2 cents.

So , the event has been held for over 60 years , the cars are worth millions of Dollars , but between the organisers and the owners they can't organise a portable Battery Backup system to jump start the cars that need a bit of help ? The owners could still be penalised if necessary.

Take it a motor pluming smoke doesn't matter in the Concours De Elegance? Mechanics should be spot on as far as I'm concerned. Funny no mention of the Gurney bubble in the GT-40's.

People now like to buy cars that appeal to their own sense of style? There's no style in modern cars. It's all dictated by the government.

Great to see some of those cars but last year was much better. You cut away from the Delahaye's to watch Varsha and a man talk. I'll never get to Peeble so I want to see the cars. If I want people talking, I'll watch some pundit show. Still, some beautiful motor vehicles.

Of course, the skilled craftsmen and women who actually restore these cars get little credit, it all goes to the money men who only dish out the money. I'm sure they never get their hands dirty.

What did Dubai ever have to offer besides oil magnates. There is no heritage, no history, no culture that can contribute to the essence of classic cars. Being "the richest city in the world" doesn't mean anything in the context of classic cars as there are none!

How do you give a car an award (GT 40's)? The driver yeah but giving a trophy to an object, I don't get it.
@arminpetschelt81278 жыл бұрын
Car and driver go together. Why would you give someone an award just for owning it? The car itself is recognized as being above the rest and continues to hold this honor as it changes ownership. As the owner you display the trophy the car, together with you hold.
@MichaelSodapop8 жыл бұрын
Johnnypumpkin Seed For just owning it no but driving & or even tuning it yeah. The car can only be above the rest if a person makes it good enough. If it weren't for man, the car would just be a pile of metal, plastic & fossil fluids. I mean I guess yeah there's pride in ownership but remember we're at the top of the food chain, not machines or animals.
