Hello from DC. Thank you so much for your fun and instructive videos, I miss France and it’s beautiful houses. I meant to tell you regarding your video on the kitchen that traditionally, there were various tea clothes in proper kitchen: a fine cotton for glasses, a medium fine one for plates and a coarse one for pots and pans as well as for cleavers. It was easier this way to dry them.

You are doing a lot of work. I like the new tiling and the idea you have with the armoire (from the last video). Your property is so vast. Take care and I hope your daughter feels better. A humidifier used to do wonders for my children when they were small. I recommend it for them now too. My mom would rub Vicks on our chest and put a nice soft scarf around our neck and across our chest. I love the opening video of your daughter in the cart. She looks beautiful!

As I mentioned in a private email to you a few days ago, with the tunnels, etc, being blocked off early during WWII, the owner probably cached valuables in the lower cellar and tunnels. I also postulated the tunnels would lead to an outhouse or other safe spot for exit if the Chateau had been embattled.

That's my worry- that any cellar space from a couple of centuries ago may now be full of rubble either accidentally or intentionally.

I Know!!! It never occurred to me & it's Really Sad that things like that happen. I'm glad that she's told us now, because I'm always wondering & wanting a detailed & complete tour. So Sad that people have to consider there are people like that out there & take precautions! Now I'm worried about the ones who do show & tell too much. Stewart & Patrick just recently had almost $1000 worth of fencing stolen when they left for just a bit! Nowadays you need cameras covering Everything!

No worries about the video quality, I'd happily listen to you on audio only! I perhaps didn't describe it well enough, but in my comments on the original video, about geophys, I was thinking about outside of the chateau, it obviously being a non starter inside. Since it was built on bedrock, then the foundations are shallower and do not limit the extent of any cellars, so they could quiet easily extend outside of the chateau's footprint and provide an easy, if unnatural, way in. But anyways, if you know where the steps are, you could take a diamond saw to the concrete (bloody stuff). It probably doesn't apply given the age and low key military intention, but from a military history perspective, (since it was a fortified barn) underground facilities generally have an additional exit for emergencies. Hope that you get to see and copy the documents that the other people purchased 🕵‍♀ Smooze them, and you never know, they may let you have them ?

Hello from the SF Bay Area, your sister wine region. I have come to feel like we're friends, so natural and loving with your children, so inventive and creative. I have felt a lot of concern for some of the "celebrity" chateau owners and their exposure to tens of thousands of people all over the world. The potential for stalkers, creepy internet men, and envious empty folks who live vicariously through you all is slightly disturbing. I love watching the renovations, the endless creativity because you are like me doing interesting stuff all the time. I even have to deal with some of this and I am quite small time compared to this chateau world. I am all for protecting yourselves, your family, and your privacy as far as that can be done on KZbin! Even still, like everyone else we want to see as much as you are willing to show. Be well, hope Baby Girl gets well asap, see you next time.

My understanding is that way back people would hide their valuables in tunnels, temporarily blocking them in when there was a real threat of invasion; would that have been plausible? Marc, I wear my sandals (orthotics) right up until there's snow however, I don't like cold feet so I'd like to know what you have against wearing socks with sandals, providing they're of similar or same colour, of course? 🧦🩴😁Thank you so much for sharing. That's definitely plausible in earlier times, however the current understanding is that it was open until at least after the end of the second world war, which would have been the last period of threat to the inhabitants.

Just a thought. Do you have test kits still for Radon? In the 1970's we tested the basement of our log house in Pennsylvania and found dangerous Radon gas that can potentially cause lung cancer. So we remediated it by adding a big PVC pipe into the slab and took it up past the roof. Now the Radon gas is drawn out from under the basement with a fan and forced up past the roof. We lived on the top of a big hill like where you live. Something to think about.

I’m watching this two weeks after so you might not see this. But, have you seen any signs of a possible tunnel exit in the acreage around the chateau?

No we haven’t and there’s been quite extensive work done in recent decades. . It’s likely they didn’t go very far (they were usually for escape) and have been completely filled in. We’re always finding stones from demolished buildings so it’s hard to distinguish!

She actually had three teeth pop through a couple of weeks ago and I’m sure you’re right there’s another one too. But we and then doctor think this is more. She’s had a horribly high temperature for a week, is barely eating or sleeping and just isn’t doing very well. We’re doing some tests and trying some treatment.
