The worst kind of people not calling hits are the ones saying "oh but it wouldn't be a kill in real life" because _that doesn't matter_. When they started playing, they agreed that getting hit eliminated them from the game, irrespective of the type of hit. Me walking up and tapping you on the shoulder wouldn't kill you either, but you're still out.

At my local in the UK- A Gun hit means your gun is disabled, and you can go to a sidearm, shotgun, grenades, whatever. You can only call this once to a hit on your primary weapon. Ricochets do not count, simply for the fact we've found it makes a more fluid game, especially in the urban environments. Stops people just hosing empty doorways or corridors, trying to bounce the BBs round at players in cover A hit anywhere on the body is a kill, avoids any arguments over the lethality of the hit, and removes any ambiguity or confusion. The one time I've seen this not being run, within five minutes, two guys were arguing in confusion- one saying that clean chest hit was a kill, the other showing his body armour and arguing it wouldn't have been lethal (I think he was hit across the mags on the front of his chest). I've played in themed events, notably Vietnam ones, where a chest or head shot was a kill, and hits to the legs or arms started a bleed out timer.

where i play hits are anywhere it hits on your person, gun hits however don't count for outdoor but they do for indoor at our local arena. We use "Mercy" here too rather than bang bang, and we have a rule where you can only mercy 1 person at a time so usually if there is two people around a corner and he calls mercy on one of them the other easily takes him out.

If I feel it or see it hit me, it's a hit. I've wondered about the weapon being hit. What several have said here about the weapon being out and going to secondary seems like the best solution.

If it hits your gun, the general rule of thumb is that you cannot use that gun until you respawn but you can switch to a sidearm or a knife. If it just grazes you like hits the cloth and not really YOU at all... then it can be excused for the most part to just shrug it off.

gun does not count but anywhere else does count. but some times it can be difficult to feel the bb's if like your shirt is hanging out abit. that is why now in the summer we go face protection and only shorts. it does hurt abit but it goes over on like 30 sek. a tip is to put a shirt or something in your shorts so that you protect your sensetive parts.

What i do (not sure about the field i play) is i just call my hit, wether it barely touched my shirt or a hair on my arm. Ricochets depend with what force they hit me, if i actually feel it bounce off, i just call it to avoid arguments. but if it barely makes a sound, i don't call it. And when my gun is hit, i just yell WEAPON OUT. and pull out my secondary. I just call hits even when i'm not 100% sure, just so i can avoid arguments and/or own mistakes. better safe then sorry. That one time extra you gotta walk back to the respawn is alot better then getting into an argument because they claim to have hit you eventho it just touched a loose piece of clothing or anything..

as far as calling hits goes just keep in mind that the person may not feel the bb, like if I'm wearing a PC and get shot in the back I may not feel it, especially since I wear "plates" in my vest simply because I think PC's look dumb with no plates and no texture, so if you see someone not calling hits don't just yell at them or treat them poorly right away, simply tell them "you know you just got hit right?" and make sure that they didn't just innocently not felt the hit before you yell and start a fight or make them feel intimidated and possibly ruin their experience and ruin the great sport of airsoft for them.

Biggest issue with no hit calling is not even feeling it. When you play at fields with low FPS limits but higher engagement distance, if you get shot from a 260 fps peashooter with .20 bbs from across the course, you cant feel a thing or even hear it hit you. Best bet is to just keep shooting them or get a ref to keep an eye on them. My only issue with this course though has been the aforementioned ref.

Most fields I know of, if both people bang bang, then one of them says parlay, and they walk a certain distance from eachother before they continue playing.

In group I play we count hits only those that would be lethal in real life, for example headshots are always a hit but getting hit in the arm or your center mass with loads of gear on starts a bleedout timer and during that timer you can get back in game if medic can come to you and heal you. If your gun gets hit and if it is your primary, it is out but you can use your other guns if you want your primary back you have to go to respawn

The way my team plays we call it "active hit" where if you get shot in the arm you can't use that arm, foot/boot you can't move, and leg you have to get on the ground and not move, medics can give you body function again, body or head shot is a kill, it's really heavily based on a trust system

Airsoft BBs are much more prone to ricocheting than real bullets is the thing. Most airsoft cover wouldn't be cover to real bullets though.

I find it better to be safe then sorry when calling hits. Even if I’m not 100% sure I’ve been hit I still call it anyway just to avoid confrontations. Pulse it’s just a game... no need to take it so seriously/start fights just because someone doesn’t call hits (at least if it’s not done on purpose)

At the place I play (in Sweden, 18+ only) a hit is a hit, doesnt matter if its your gun, your hand or your head. You call that hit. This works with most people, there are obviously some people that dont take gun-hits, but that is often more of a missunderstanding of the rules than them trying to cheat their way to victory. Also, most places ive been to have their own rules on these things, but almost every place ive been to agree on that a hit is a hit. My main playing ground is a forest, wich means high speeds and full-auto, because we have a age limit by law in Sweden most people are mature enough to dont overkill their enemy. If someone overdid it they are very quick to check up on the player to see if he/ she is okey. Also, for CQB areas we have a FPS limit of around 340 (100 m/s with a 4% marginal = 104m/s).

just because you point your gun at someone at close range, doesnt mean you will hit them when you pull the trigger. some people, when the adrenalin is pumping, yank the trigger and pull the gun off target and assume they shoot straight. Saying bang at close range isnt effective. plus you could in theory run around the game area shouting bang bang before you turn every corner and not have a gun

in our group we yell :"gun hit" and we stop the game. if everybody agrees we reset the round. if not the round is considered a win for the team that has the least nomber of casualties.

Where I play if a player is certain it was a ricochet then its not a hit. If we are uncertain then we assume its a hit unless the guy shooting at you says it didn't hit you first which tends to happen on occasion too. When it comes to your gun being shot where I play if your gun is it then your gun is out. If you have a secondary then you can choose to remove the weapon from the battle and pull your secondary or you can just call it a hit and sit out the rest of the round. Guys on our field that don't call their hits and get caught in game not calling it out, get slammed by all players on both teams when caught. Reason for doing so is because we find its a much more effective way to teach people to call their hits. Banning just doesn't teach anyone anything. So if caught in the middle of a game all players turn and open fire on the cheater. Lots of ass shots tend to teach them to knock that crap off.

you could but would you really want to? when everyone has an auto/semi-auto gun? think about that.. you have to load after every shot and re-aim your gun after every shot where as with an aeg or gbb you have consistent shot follow up. my advice, just start with a good aeg. the company G&G make pretty good beginner guns starting at about $150-$170 for their CM line of M4's, just save up and buy one of those, a good smart charger and a tenergy 9.6 1600MaH battery. p.s never use the charger, battery or bb's the gun comes with as they're usually low quality. so throw all that crap away.

In my opinion, "critical area hits" should be limited to sniper games. All soldiers are trained to aim for the center mass, but snipers and some DMs have more than easy enough jobs to simply hit the guy, whereas the infantrymen and spec operators can just hose the guy. Gun hits shouldn't count ever because there are very few instances, if any, in which they prove lethal.

Get a tactical vest. The ones with the magazine pouches on it. You can get a cheap one for $30. It really does help because if you have mags in them and it hits them. You can feel it but it doesn't hurt. Also if you do get hit, there is some extra fabric on it and it barely hurts. Now because I'm cheap, I have a $12 paintball bounce vest and a sweat shirt and it also works well.

Realistically there won't be a ricochet. A bullet goes a /little/ bit faster than a BB, it'll just embed itself into the wall 99% of the time.

Junkzx well, I wear polycarbonate(shatter-proof) glasses and I was told that since they are prescription I don't have to use safety glasses when I was at a firing range. Would you just say to wear your contacts with goggles?

Think about this: could your glasses withstand a bb that, when fired from a 450 fps airsoftgun, penetrates a normal can while going trough it completely? If the answer is yes, then youre good.

nick rodriguez in airsoft you don't take chances with safety, you need to find ballistic safety glasses, not those crappy ones at the hardware store either, You need ballistic!!!!!!!! Even ballistic goggles have limits too. I have about 4 pairs and I need to replace most of them now, Its something you need to take seriously. Now if you are like me and use glasses because of your eye site then you need to buy yourself a larger ballistic goggle that will cover your glasses as well. I know plenty of people that use those. Personally I don't because I can see ok with out them for a while but mabe you can't. So get yourself some good goggles and remember to buy ones that you can get new lenses for. That way when the lenses are damaged you can just replace the lense, much cheaper then replacing the entire thing.

Imo any hit into any part of the body should be counted as a hit - out. When you get shot in your gun, your weapon should be out. Put it down and use your side arm or secondary gun. Ricochets, should not count because it kills the fun factor.. there is so much spam in airsoft that you're going to be taken out at least twice as often. But please bear in mind that not all people who don't take their hits are cheaters, this isn't paint ball where it is very obvious when you're hit. If you're wearing a vest or some other protective gear you may just not feel the bb and if your vision is obstructed you may simply not notice. That's why calling people out in my opinion is just as rude as not calling their hits intentionally. If there is a situation where you feel that someone didn't take their hit just let the referee know and they will sort it out for you. You're a douche if you're calling people out across the play field, it's not sportsman like ruins the atmosphere - and it may be the case that the guy was playing legit but simply did not feel/noticed when hit. So you're just making an ass of yourself.
