Aww, you guys are so sweet to be concerned about my finger! ❤ Apparently my body reacts quite harshly to poison ivy- It caused me to lose most of the skin on my index finger (thankfully the only part that got into contact with it). The only remaining original skin is on the fingertip. 😭 I swear I didn't get bit by a venomous snake though! Haha

You guys helping out the sidewinder and the gopher snake reminded me of that one Tumblr post I saw once that compared animals encountering humans to folk legends about humans encountering fae - they're strange, terrifying, incomprehensible and unpredictable creatures that might kill you, mess with you, abduct you, help you or delight you with (often very odd) food and drink. I think it's a fitting analogy - herping always makes me feel like a benevolent wood sprite, at least :p

I'm so glad y'all had such a good time out here in AZ! Have to say, as a resident of the same area you were in, I love Spiny Lizards; they're beautiful little things and have always looked to me like someone very carefully made them out of tiny bits of metal. And they have such gorgeous eyes! I'm kind of sorry that you didn't run across any Chuckwallas, though; they're *such* dinosaurs! Their eyes just look ancient, and they can be incredibly curious.

I have a Western Banded Gecko as a pet. They make really good pets. I have mind for almost 2 years and he is a captive bred. I got him from a breeder who provides good variety of geckos. Really proud of owning the species.

So today this happened there was this baby kitten that came into our school and she was literally hurt and injured she got even scared by so many people crowding as if they hv seen a cat for the first time. So i carried the kitten and put it at the opposite side of the school where students arent allowed- and that cat visits me and my friends every day. And then i see emily helping a sidewinder. U are a true hero.

Got serious old school Steve Irwin vibes from this, back when he'd do all his own videos with a video camera and a spotlight and I love it xD. Also why do I have a feeling that one of the next critters Emily and Ed get will be Banded geckos? xD That one *really* wanted to come home with them lol.

Thats such a wholesome thought, that Emily is a mini Steve.. She has a touch of the magic he had, she has it with reptiles while he had it with all animals.. Its like elemental powers only with critters

It’s so cool to see people so excited about seeing the reptiles and amphibians that I can see on any given day if I spend 30mins outdoors. That Spadefoot Toad is something not really seen so much as heard cause they can get pretty loud when it rains really well. You’d just hafta step outside and you can hear all of them croaking in the night. And I don’t know if it was the right tarantula but I’d see a ton of those guys all over our backyard when I was younger. One of my most favorite things to do when we’re outside at night camping or just wandering the desert is to get a black light too and see all the scorpions wandering around the ground. It’s cool to see all of them piled around hidden in the vegetation.
