Old Aperture does not have the new facility tiles from Portal 2, but does have the Portal 1 white lunar surfaces. Also, the probability of you having played Portal 2 yourself seems very low.

Ya know, I have to wonder... what applications would the gels even have? Or, rather, lack of applications. I mean, they apparently didn't get much investment, despite everyone should've thrown money at that stuff. If the military took time to teach basic parkour, then one could use the gels effectively enough to blitz through an enemies defenses. Not to mention the basic transportation improvements for civilians. Coat some train tracks in the propulsion gel, and suddenly a handcart can rival the speeds of bullet trains.

Through a SLUE of Cave Johnson quotes, and memes, here's why this chamber is so similar to the ones in old aperture. The first thing done in ANY portal game is the chambers are done first, the aesthetics, in laments terms, The tests are done first, then they're changed so that they fit in the story. It actually makes for a good work flow, and is pretty impressive when you think about it.
