Hey Preach just wanted to say I mained a hunter from Cata until WoD and never thought of trying anything else, but switched to shadow priest because of your ranged comparison at launch. Ive never had more fun in the game, absolutely love it and Ive even picked up how to play Holy for Mythic Maiden progress. Thanks so much! Really, the only reason I don't play my shadow priest more often is that I love elemental shaman more. I think they nailed Shadow this expansion in terms of fun interactive gameplay. Even without surrender to madness, the overall rotation is really fun to pull off. I hope they see little changes in Battle For Azeroth, so I might play him more often than once or twice a week.

TheZipding I think the only reason I didn't continue with mine was because I'd done the zones so many times and shadow felt underpowered while leveling. Holy is fun but I'm not that great at healing other than resto druid which is really a more easy mode.

Honestly... I don't know how the 'random' legos that literally can change HOW you play entirely could be balanced to what ammounts to a stat stick. Tell me, how does those crafted gloves for mail compare to the Beast Ring for a BM hunter? Not well frankly. The alternate ring.. which is a crit baby, & massively incentives stun/interrupting... to the point that even a class with one interrupt with the longest CD 30s would use it holding that ring. What the legos did is literally create builds within specs, and some classes .. . even as far as shifting stat weights entirely within the same spec, to make a build work. No legos are not fixed, and blizzard still hasn't fixed the stat issue, nor do they do jack shit with teaching what stats a spec uses. -Hell The caps are vastly different between specs, more now then ever.

Kerns Noel is exactly right. I love preach but that was a very rare instance he sounded ignorant. Not having the correct legos can gimp some specs from awesome to trash.

That is ignorant to think that. There are only a few specs where not having bis leggo matters. I have pulled competitive dps throughout the expansion on multiple specs and have able to produce competitive numbers when I don't mess up something in the rotation. My main thing as someone who has played most classes as well like preach. Is they need more range classes that can have tank offspec. I find boomy too repetitive. And I'm not a fan of most melee. I like warrior but just like preach I find the tanking underwhelming compared to the others. Unlike tanking I don't like the dk melee specs though. I prefer being a caster off by myself until a mechanic requires me to be in. But I also enjoy tanking. They need an enjoyable range spec with a tank offspec.

Yeah I was that was with prot pala too all the way from WOTLK till now but they are in a worse state than they have ever been imo. So many things in TOS just do not work well for you, many fights you have to move out of your consecrate and many things can just one shot you.

I've tried p pala so many times, idk how people can play it after they removed holy power. They ran ret into the ground too imo- so many cool things removed. They act like having 4 buttons to press is an achievement.

The biggest issue with re-rolling was the character specific achievements/achievement points. At least for people who play the game in a bit more complex manner than just attend raids and run a couple dungeons here and there. In WOTLK with 10000+ achie points there was no way in hell anyone could make me reroll to anything else, and that's how my high-achiever friends felt too. Now, with account-wide achievements you can reroll at any time without losing too much time. AP is going higher all the time and it's not an issue at all.

not so obvious are the horns on the very-real Draenic Scepterlord. Dogs need to learn when to heel but the Alien race comes standard. They tank, dps, and heal whenever they need to. And they are Blue. Good luck to those without TV and the Sci-Fi channels.

I rolled a mage at the start of the expansion too, I started pkaying frost early in EN because I enjoyed it more than fire and we were not in content where the spec mattered, same for ToV. I loved the speed and the controll of frost back then. Then, they took passive haste away, squished the stats, AND changed Frozen Touch to a passive as well as making Ebonbolt give 1 Brain Freeze instead of Fingers of Frost, resulting FOR ME, before everyone starts building me a stake to burn on, in a slow, much more random and much less fun frost mage experience, leading me to play my rogue.

I love the turn-around. Just from the unique human perspective. I remember in WoD you specifically rolled Rogue because you could NOT tank, so nobody could expect it from you and you wouldn't be forced into it. Now you're saying the exact opposite.

This is actually kind of a neat retrospective on class choice, sort of like the legacies. If Holy paladin wasn't exactly the kind of healer I wanted to play when Legion came out (as well as just wanting to tank in some capacity), I would have regretted my choice for paladin. That being said, I think I've come to the conclusion that healing is really what I love doing more than anything, so priest it is for Antorus. Love Disc; you have mana management and a lot of proactive decisions packed into a small amount of abilities with great moments of glory with their CDs, along with Life Grip, Knockback, and an AoE interrupt with fear for fun utility. Holy has a few too many dingles about it, but the new animations really give you the feeling that you're dumping waves upon waves of holy light, crashing over people, and the Holy Words acting like Supers is actually a lot of fun. Shadow is a "meh, okay," simply because I like random procs which it lacks; but you still hit those moments of ~60+ void stack multi-dotting which, similar to the waves of Holy Light from holy, feels like waves of darkness crushing your foes.

The flair, awesomeness and cool factor for a Guardian druid comes with the Cape+balance shoulders lego combo, with moonglaives and Deteriorated Construct Core, running into 50+ mobs and popping coolies and doing 20mil+ burst dps and feeling invincible healing off all that damage. But outside of cooldowns, and especially against single target, its rotation is very simple.

I Used to HATE tanking with my monk, and would always just heal with him, However during a +6 Keystone we could not find a tank and had a healer in the list, so i thought to myself ... Screw it ! I will tank, and Ever since that keystone run, i have been Tanking Way more on my monk from now on. Monk Tank is so much fun to play :)

I rerolled back to my DK after coming back from a break and I'm loving the class like I did in wrath. Granted I'm "casual" but I was able to get to 923 ilvl in about 2 weeks after hitting 110.

Its so funny you talk about the DK, especially unholy. I literally just went through the exact same thought process. I am sick of my rogue (i still dont have the leggo shoulders) and I can not play ranged classes. Unholy dk is by far my favorite dps class right now and having the option to go blood to solo almost anything is just gravy.

I would like to take a min and explain ignore pain to Mr. Preach "ignore pain ruins my warrior class fantasy" Gaming lol. Think of it like this... you have a boxer in a fight and he takes a punch right to the noggin from his opponent but manages to grit his teeth, stick to the 5 D's of dodgeball, and keeps ducking and diving. That boxer just used ignore pain to stay in the fight. Its more a measure of how much abuse you can take and still shrug it off, and in context to World of Warcraft (which is based on D&D) this is manifested by an absorption shield or temporary hit points. It may not be the most effective mechanic but makes quite a bit of sense from a metagame perspective.

Agreed about specs lacking a tank. The druid is my go-to. It's amazing for a main. The only thing that stops me from full on recommending it over everything else to a new player is it lacking the capability of being a human. That rep perk is huge.

Legendaries might not % wise make a big difference, but for some they fix core gameplay issues which make certain speccs worth playing.

RNG to get legendaries. RNG to get tier, then to get warforged tier, then titanforged tier. RNG to get the right trinkets, then titanforged versions. Then RNG on procs. RNG by bosses that affect random players. Clearly, the design of Legion is to pin people into specific characters and specs, then use RNG and constant class tinkering so that everyone has their "that one time I was first on the chart" moment. Unlike previous expansions, it's very rare to paly with someone in the same spec with the same gear so that you can actually compare apples to apples how to improve yourself.

The whole "Killing the Spec" really rings true for DH. With the massive change to the stats on our Antorus tier, we aren't even going to use it anymore. The set isn't very good, and we're just going to take any piece of armor we can get with crit and run with no tier. Blizzard being adamant about not making Eye Beam scale with crit, where EVERY other ability in the game that is guaranteed to crit scales off of it, has killed DH in the next tier. I rerolled to my priest when my guild changed servers, as I just can't deal with being useless because my 5 legendaries don't include Anger of the Half Giants.

As someone who rerolled from MW to Blood/Unholy midway through NH, I can say I didn't regret it at all. Both specs are insanely fun and powerful. I miss my monk, but they have so many core flaws that I couldn't main it again until Legion is over, which is such a shame.

The fact that they know WW has a serious scaling problem (20 weapon ilvls only gives ~ 20k DPS) because none of their abilities scale with weapon damage, and they just bandaid fix it every time just pushes me away. The whole reason WW got the 9% buff when netherlight crucible released was because they didn't gain the damage of 15 weapon ilvls like other classes did. WW gearing is arguably the worst in the game, being locked into t19 2p and t20 4p while having to use 2 specific legos for that combo to work. Then add in that you need specific skills on relics since relic ilvl does almost nothing, you are left with trinkets, jewelry, and belts as your only slots you got wiggle room with. Its frustrating because it makes finding that m10 upgrade that much harder. MW: I liked some aspects of WoD MW better (not the ReM Uplift gameplay, but the way statue worked), but it just feels so lacking now. Sure you can pump the HPS, but CDs are lacking. Life cocoon can be enough to save someone (reduce as much damage as say, a pain suppression), but I just don't know..

Every time I want to reroll, I usually feel the need to completely remake mainly because of name issues, legendary issues, personal problems.. So I feel you. Right now I main two holy priests, one for Horde (I raid on Horde) and one for Alliance (the majority of my friends play Alliance), but I am wanting to find a dps I like to take a breather from healers and might level up a MM hunter from scratch.

I'm with you on the pure DPS class thing. It was frustrating especially at the start of the expansion dealing with long DPS queues for heroics, or being stuck in LFR queues just to get that Bad Luck Protection. Ele shaman right now is my favorite ranged class by design. Most of their talent tree traits are actually viable and offer a range of different playstyles. Also a good chunk of their legendaries shine with different trait setups and yield very similar overall dps (IE, less importance on getting BiS). I will say that I struggle to play resto in dungeons. I'm just not good at it. I've always played hybrids, mostly my priest since TBC, and while Antorus looks decent for DoT classes, the design of shadow pidgeon holing into a specific talent tree and playstyle for a majority of encounters is just.. depressing. Im considering swapping mains for Antorus maybe over to my shaman.

Interesting. I started Legion as an Enhancement Shaman but I went into Resto in HC EN because my guild requested it. Then I went and became a Havoc DH but got bored with the dependancy on crit for Chaos Strike and Demon Blades RNG. Tried Vengeance out for a bit but we didn't really need another tank. Then I decided to try out Unholy and I am NEVER looking back. I know what I will be playing for the rest of this expansion. RNG isn't too bad and while the rotation can be static on Goroth for instance, the great variation in talent choices and potential in the spec just really cater to me. I can highly recommend playing Unholy in Legion.

I played a mage forever. The start I did a shaman heals/dps, but as it went on I got bored. So I tried other classes, and finally went to a very casual guild back with my Mage. I am just raiding Normal, and heroic sometimes. Using Arcane because I find it fun, and I do fine in normal or heroic that is just my speed. Sometime I think we overthink stuff. Just play what you like.

It is fun to play an alt for a bit....but I always end up bored....my main is elemental shaman, but I like all shaman specs....besides that I regularly play BM hunter, Blood DK.....the rest of them, are really alts.....some of them I get bored with after 5 mins again.....anyways, everyone is different. But in my case, I will always love shamans, there's something about them....cant find that in other classes.....

Legendaries are the only thing making rerolling difficult, getting gear and farming ap doesn't take long at all. I just started going on my pally and in a week I got to 936 ilvl. Ive rerolled a few times when my spec got fucked and was able to catch up very quickly and jump back into raiding with my guild and I now have the reputation of being a great multiclasser.

While leggos are harder to get and the biggest difficulty in rerolling. You honestly just need any two leggos that doesn't make getting your 4 piece tier harder unless it's bis. After that it's all small numbers.

Incinder1995 I've rerolled twice in legion thus far. From shaman to warrior and from warrior to rogue. I have every legendary on my warrior and only 2 average legendaries on my rogue. My rogue does 1.2mill dps and my warrior 1.4mill. Unless you're at the cutting edge, where you need every single point of dmg, legendaries have minimal impact.

Chris Taylor it's a victim of a system where utility is put on the same list of options as output, and often VERY HIGH output. For many players they'd rather learn a fight with all the dps items and "get good" then under perform a little but survive. The stat balance a while back helped a bit, but honestly, no dps and hps leggos should have been made. That way no one could blame you for sacrificing dps to obtain some utility.

It's funny, I'm thinking of going the opposite way - I've mained a Frost DK since Cata, and I'm considering making my Mage my new main. I've dabbled in alts before now (tried out a Rogue and a Hunter in WoD), but this is the first time since I started that I've capped more than one character (unless you count the Hunter I boosted). The lack of mobility on the DK has been bugging me for a while (Shimmer poops all over Wraithwalk) and it's nice to be ranged for a change. I'll probably stick with my DK though, I'm just so invested in that one character.

Short answer: If you are not pushing Mythic-raiding charts, pick a Druid: tank, heal, ranged and melee damage-dealer - will sort everything...

Every time Meta is mentioned I get sad remembering the masterpiece that was once Demonology. Esp with Dark Apotheosis as an option, it was a bucket of tools ready to be used. Sad part is that DHs didn't get that lovely bucket, just a skin with some dps increase on top of it.

I''ve been an almost completely solo player during Legion. If that happens to be your thing, consider Blood DK or Vengence DH. They're both fun and have good solo survivability. Guardian Druid is a fairly effective a solo spec but it is painfully boring. I've also been trying Brewmaster Monk recently. It's fun but it does not have the solo survivability of Blood/Vengence (though that could be an experience issue).

The biggest thing that has pushed me away from re-rolling is the idea of farming AP to get the artifact as powerful as I want it to be. Some say it might be easy but just the thought of doing it is very off putting.

I rerolled 2 times in Legion as a mythic raider! I found my reroll specs mostly by just gearing them and running some alt raids and m+ I went from Enh Shaman (main since BC) to Windwalker in Nighthold and back to Enh in Tomb since they fixed the cancer Enh was before the "rework" ^^

Late to the party, but I love tanking on my prot warrior. Ultimately, I find the mechanics kinda tedious, but it's my main alt. I do most of my tanking on BDK, which I love to bits, but it's so slow. Then I can just hop on my warrior, tank through an alt raid, get my +10 done for the week. I'm just pinging around the map, leaps, charges, battle cry, nelths fury. You just feel like this little ball of anger as an orc warrior hurtling around the place, and it's so refreshing after playing a DK. Sure, I do find it mechanically quite uninteresting, but it's perfect for an alt.

Legion killed the competitive scene for sure. There is zero reason to give a shit about rankings in a world of Titanforging, RNG legendaries, and AP grinding. It's pointless to care about your ranking because there's always going to be someone with better Titanforging RNG than you, someone with more WQ grinding for AP tokens than you, someone with the 2 best legendaries while you're STILL stuck on 2 mediocre ones. If Blizzard wants to stop dicking the raiding scene, they have to stop introducing so much RNG. It KILLS the high-end scene and drives away all of the good players.

Being able to get lucky Titanforged gear from high mythics is what killed the raiding scene. Why bother organizing difficult content when you can just speed run through a mythic and get a previously BIS trinket that's bumped up 70 ILVLs. Arcanocrystal is still BIS on most specs solely because of the loot vendors and titanforging. Its a joke

I think the main meme about DK Mobility is not it's slowness, but that the ability gets you stuck on literally any little fucking bump on the floor unless glyphed, which is obsurdly terrible. They fix that, it's more than fine.

Rmmc 1203 you use WW, and start moving. If there is any irregularities in the ground, you get stuck there, while normal movement bypasses it. It is the same issue you run into with Levitate, but happens way more often. IIRC it can also happen with the PvP talent for monks which makes you able to control the Serpent Kick trojectory mid-use.

I've had no issues with Mythic+ at all and I'm Arcane, it's because I'm extremely patient (how fitting to the personality of the spec), I don't mind waiting for things, in fact, I like it.

I'm very happy they've buffed the blood dk from it's low performance in early legion. Improving blood shield and bringing back IBF was a real gamechanger for the class, really needed those tools to make tanking more viable and less seesawing. I feel bad for warriors, their rotation and synergy as Prot was beautiful early Legion, along with beautiful mobility skills. RIP ultimatum (or w/e the removed talent was, maybe vengeance?)

Seeing that Blizzard clearly has no real plan for how demonolgy should be I believe next expansion warlock could be the first clothy with a tankspec in the game. Imagine how cool it would be if you'd just summon the demon for the situation you need and ride on its shoulders while controlling it like you'd controle your warlock. Need to tank some adds? Alright Infernal it is (looking at the guldan mount I see riding an infernal is already in the game). Need to withstand heavy damage? Voidlord it's gonna be. Need a tank who can put out some singletarget numbers? Hell yeah I'm gonna ride on the back of my pitlord into battle and tank this.

The most disconcerting aspect to me is how the 7.3 (mid xpac patch) really changed classes particularly the demon hunter to satisfy ToS and incoming legendaries which I feel wrecked the diversity of gameplay by simply changing the stat priorities. Personally I don't like that kind of dynamic change because it really effected what I wanted to do in the game and I how I did it. I have nearly 15 legos on my DH (with BiS), but even at 15-20 ilevels lower with more focus on ilevel and less on stat priority, my monk still feels strong in all circumstances with only one lego (helm) equipped. I can get over not being at the top of DPS charts as long as everything feels good with the class, but when Blizzard confines stat priorities to force a single style of play.....that makes me want to reroll. As far as this being the expansion that entices a single character toon...sure I agree with that, but for me 7.3 is the "Reroll" patch for many because what felt good in the beginning of the xpac feels pretty stale in 7.3, and I believe a lot of people are feeling it, and that is why people are asking Preach and other "What should I play?" because each class requires a pretty large investment in unlocking stuff, artifact and gathering legendaries before the class gets good. I believe people just want to know what they're in for if they reroll to another class. That said..I still love Vengence as well.

I rerolled to a monk after tanking/dps as a demon hunter for ToS progression and mage when ranged dps was needed. Best decision I made. I looooooove the monk. Plus I got 2 best in slot leggos in 1 raid run lol

The power creep in just this expansion(and we aint even done yet) is insane, look at those dps numbers in his vid of Cenarius, average 300-400k dps now we got people doing over 3million, over 10x in 3 raid tiers. But RIP Surv hunters, the worst blundered class in this xpac, it's like having an aborted child and raise it for over a year and still think it's alive.

...No shit, I was betting it involved something about tanking again!...that thing at the end about cutting down every class to 2 basic specs like DH is a good idea even if I think it will be more work to rebalance everyone all over again than leaving it as it is right now but it's worth it. An idea with current classes that hold just 2 roles (melee DPS/Tank, ranged DPS/Healer), could be be to choose the DPS play style from the talents, it could be totally viable for example DKs playing a hybrid between frost and unholy as DPS, or just unholy or just frost in one single melee DPS spec, with the possibility to both dual wield and 2-handers, and tank as pure Blood. Maybe, they could just leave real hybrid classes like shamans, druids, paladins and monks keep their 3 to 4 specs and further specialize them in real support classes that were needed for the longest time now, that is classes that don't really heal or tank but could just offtank, offheal or just bring really convenient buffs depending on the situations.

Before Legion, I was thinking of staying warlock or switching to dk/warrior. Only reason I stayed warlock was becuase we had 2 dks and I hated arms at that time. I still loved my dk and lvled him to 110 as soon as my warlock was done. In ToV, opportunity came and I switched to d. Best decision ever made. Havng so much fun on my dk.

I’ve been wanting to make an alt to my dh and I have to agree with the dk on this. I’m a huge melee player. While I understand the dislike of havoc dh being so easy I love it. I’m not a raider. I’m just an all around player but don’t push super high for anything currently as I came into legion late. But I love challenging myself on Argus. Using meta and eye beam and my legos I like to pull huge packs and survive. I’ve even downed an invasion point boss in havoc spec completely solo because I learned how to rotate my eye beams for leech. I find it very rewarding

i would love if blizzard would add a 4the specc, something like a "enhancher" a specc wich focus on buffing and debuffing, more focused on buffs and manpilating the battlefield. Maybe like an arcane mage wich focus on giving mana back, reducing cd's, zoning adds, add extra interupts and buffing/debuffing friends and enemy's. (something like in log horizon for those who have seen it) A specc without any direct influence(no direct heals or huge dps) but more focused on delivering that trough its allies.

Now, on another perspective of DK, i'm not a very big fan of Unholy as a raiding spec, because of how much you're putting on your plate. Ya gotta keep your pet evolved, ya gotta keep your dot up, ya gotta generate your zits, ya gotta pop 'em, ya gotta make sure you dont overflow on power, ya gotta make sure you dont run out of runes. On frost, it's very similar to spray and pray. Slip the ammo in the gun, and unload EVERYTHING.

The fact that you can buy legendaries in dalaran makes it somewhat easier to reroll although what legendary you get is still RNG but with a fresh 100 character You Can level to 1:10 and have two decent legendaries if not bis in less than two months time which isn't too bad casually playing got 8 more months of Legion so might as well
