Great video. I like how the Landseer keeps his head up so he can see the target immediately on hitting the water. My Newfoundlands do rescues. But once I had one that would only rescue women. Ha, the men could drown. I love these dogs.

I love these dogs , too. THEY have actual webs between their toes..... And, their coat is specially insulated.......It's like the Creator created them to SWIM and to HELP SAVE PEOPLE in just such conditions as shown in this video. They are WORKING DOGS. And, Hey, Mister David Lamb.......... I'm sure as can be that IF YOU WERE THE ONE MAN WHO NEEDED HELP & RESCUE....Surely ANY ONE of your dogs would RESCUE YOU.

drewsadog: newfies do it by instinct.they are made for this.water rescue dogs are stronger, faster and better swimmers than human rescuers.they are more courageous and don't have second thoughts!they would literally die for a stranger.

got a newfie a bit ago he's 14 weeks weighing 6 stone+ and hes the same height as our burnise mountain dog (bitch) his dad was 14 stone so im guessing he's gonna be a big lad. cant wait to take him to SAR classes

I dont think that level of rescuing is for thst dog. That to been a serious belly flop for the dog and could have knock the wind out him. At that point I think the dog was looking to be rescued himself.
