This actually gave me a good idea on how to install my front loading dryer and washer as I was trying to place the dryer on the pedestal "after" the pedestal was in place...which was quite a "lift" for a tight spot. Instead now I'll move the dryer to an open area along with the pedestal, attach them together there...and then place the dryer. Well done.

They did a great job. The only criticism I would have is that there was no mention of installing the shipping bolts in the washer. They might have been installed prior to the video. But I didn't see the movers bounce around the unit very much in handling so they are probably OK.

EDIT: I succeeded! Granted, I didn't have to move it UP the stairs, but down the stairs, up and down the ramp in the moving truck, and in and out of an elevator then into one storage unit then into another at the same storage facility, all with myself, any help from God, and a uhaul appliance dolly with its built in strap. ORIGINAL: This is useful. Thank you! It confirms I should be able to move my washer on my own given a sufficient dolly and ratchet straps.
@shnuggumz6 жыл бұрын
You make it look so easy to move this heavy washer with the Magliner hand truck. I'm wondering if I'd be able to move my own washer and dryer as you did. I'm not super strong, but thought I'd ask if you are relying on mostly muscle power to balance the load on the hand truck as you move down the stairs, or is most of the weight levied against the hand truck? I'm not super strong, but wonder if this could be an option for me - I'd call you, but I'm way out of area! :-)
@shnuggumz6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. I think I'll leave it to the professionals!

I know this reply is 3 years after your comments, but following this video's cue, I succeeded moving my washer down the stairs from my former 2nd floor apt and more (didn't need to move it up any stairs though) with a uhaul appliance dolly (which comes with a strap and strap-tightening lever setup). With whatever applicable help from God, the most strength required was with controlling it down each stair step, and then going up and down the truck ramp with it.

Before moving machines the transit bolts should be RE-added to prevent drum movement not a blanket. Especially in heat pump dryers where there's a refrigerant. Once placed these dryers then need a minimum of 6 hours to settle. It's pointless protecting the outside if you're not going to re install transit bolts. As professional movers shouldn't you be advising that?
@truthforamerica14302 жыл бұрын
This is a good attempt however not the way professional appliance installers would do it. You are using the wrong hand truck, you need one with a strap or 2 straps preferably, and rollers for the stairs. An appliance this heavy could easily damage the stairs with the non roller sliding type of hand truck your using, and the wheels are too large. Also you should not attempt stairs without a helper. If you were to slip there is no stopping that 300 pound machine from killing somebody had they walked passed the steps.
