In this research review with Dr. Fred Barnes, orthopedic surgeon and lifter, we discuss the study by Christensen et al: Effect of Aerobic and Resistance Exercise on Cardiac Adipose Tissues, published in JAMA, 2019 Aug; 4(8): 778-787.. Bottom line: Training reduces both epicardial and pericardial fat, with the latter in particular having implications for cardiovascular and metabolic health.

Sounds wonderful. I suppose I will believe it until another study refutes it .These videos make it clear one can "shop" for outcomes if you look hard enough. Thanks for continuing to bring studies like this to the general public.

JUST finished my "B" workout this evening since starting NLP at the beginning of April at age 60 (8 prior months of Pavel's PTTP program 3x a week). Making much better overall strength gains on SS than PTTP. First qued into SS by Sully's book 2 years ago from.our local library (it has gone missing since then, thieves know good stuff too).

Just 12 weeks. Two years would give an opportunity for ALL systems to readjust and settle down and operate optimally under the new protocol/lifestyle.

About fat loss: when I consult with Doctor Google, I’m told that exercise only does 5-15% of the work in reducing fat (I assume that this is fat everywhere in and on the body) and that the rest is done via diet. The #s vary depending on who wrote the article. My question: how does this (admittedly fluid) statistic square with your knowledge of and experience with resistance training and fat loss & with this research? Thanks and greetings from an American expatriate in Taipei, Taiwan.

Balance is good. At 58 i am above 400 on squat and dead lift. 275 bench and very carful with form. But But i balance my lifts with some aerobic activity pushing lawn mower fat bike and general walking but not to fair. everybody is genetically different . do what’s best for you. low body fat or high body fat is good. deadlift has never helped my breathing hard during sex. but getting heart rate up does when i am lucky enough to have sex does help
