From all the monsters I've seen in all of Resident Evil, I'm going even further and say, that it is the scariest monster in the entire series. Although half of that is probably due to the position you are in the game. If you could simple shoot it, it would creep you out the first time, but turn into a generic bullet sponge after a few minutes. Everything is creepier, when you have no way to defend yourself. Plus here you have small, long, dark corridors, it's easy to get trapped, that thing one-hits you and the music goes completely insane, perfectly for these moments. I've never played an RE-Game (aside from Zero but I haven't finished it, since it's gameplay didn't catch me), I'm just not okay with playing these kinds of games but I do like the lore and monster designs behind RE. Or at least I think I wouldn't be able to face certain scenes and monsters. THIS thing however made me shaking even though I'm just watching a video of a playthrough. I think I could handle the older games, since they don't look as realistic and some of them are more actionbased than horror based. I think another reason why it's so scary is that, while the graphics of this game in general are very realistic - the baby just hits the perfect middle between reality and... Well, that effect you get when you have a costume that is supposed to look human. On top of that, here it is a baby. Something that is supposed to be innocent and cute - The fucked up part that tricks our brain is, that it's not the complete opposite. It's still a baby, but aside from that fact, it is nothing else than a monster that wants to kill you. The majority of people have deep connections to babys. It is just part of our nature to be affected by that. To think that something like that could be such a monstrosity. I think these are the reasons why it is so disturbing. Everything else is just your typical Resident Evil mutated fucked up monster. But mixed up with these kind of things? For many, this crosses a line. A bonus that made it extra scary for me: I was spoilered about that thing today, due to recommendations and was checking out where that boss was located. In my mind I was like "Oh my god, is that Rose, what the hell, how heartless can writers be, all this shit and now she turned into this?!" I thought it was one of the last bosses in the game, yet it's just a boss from the second main area it seems. That being said the play-through I'm watching currently is directly after the Dimitrescu Boss fight. And there are hints to Resi 7 already, and I'm very, very excited for how it'll all play out.

I love how Resident Evil 8 is a great combination between Fantasy and Sci-Fi. The monsters from this chapter of Biohazard are created from Megalomycete (apparently from fungus), and many monsters are derived from monsters of fantasy settings. The village itself looks like it came straight from Middle Age Europe, and many monsters, even goons (werewolves) are modeled from monsters from Fantasy setting, like witch. There are few exceptions like three daughters of Alchina (the first three bosses of this video). The three daughters of Alchina looks like they are derived from pests ( not monster, and probably reference to various plagues that plagued Middle Age Europe) It looks like each of Four House Bosses (are derived from four of classical fantasy monsters. Alchina Dmitresche (?) is derived from Dragon (her monster form) and vampire (her human form) Donna Veneviento is derived from Cursed Doll/ Majo (Witch) Salvatore Moro is derived from Mermaid/Merman Kal Heisenberg is derived from, I believe Golem, since he manipulates metals. As for the last boss, Mother Miranda looks like she was derived from Fallen Angel. I wish there are more Resident Evil series which are derived from fantasy monsters/ settings.
