This movie is actually what got me interested in the Resident Evil series as my boyfriend (who's like one of the biggest RE fans I've seen *though he's not fond of the movies but does give them some props where it's due-) kept raving about this movie to me and to watch it which I did after coming across it on On Demand. I now own RE6 (which was the first RE game I got), Revelations 2 and I ended up getting RE2 at a pretty decent price at an awesome used game store. I also got the blu-ray of this movie at a pretty good price when the Blockbuster near me had a going out of business mega clearance sale.

Its such a small thing but Claire giving the gun back made me just bang my head on my desk when I saw it, they make it a point to show how good she has become with a gun and she just gives it back.

speaking in spin-offs that are actually canon to the games' universe,have you ever checked the Marhawa Desire manga,Phelous?it's a prequel setting months before RE6 featuring Chris and Piers(though they aren't exactly the main characters,but they sort of become one when the climax happens)and you,who misses the suspense and mystery of the first games,would certainly like how the first volumes are suspenseful with only a few zombies showing up,and the main characters investigating why they are showing up in the school(they even mention the Daylight vaccine from the Outbreak games),though it becomes full blown action in the final volumes. Viz Media has released the first three volumes in English,with the fourth one being out this week and the fifth one being the ending.I recommend you to buy it if you are interested,Phelous.

I saw this on my own in a Tokyo cinema in 2008. I'd been travelling the world and ended up alone in Japan. After months of no TV or films this was the most incredible thing to watch. I learned that the Japanese audiences respect the films and stay very quiet during. I made a few 'oohs' and 'aahs' which got me a few strange looks. The film itself isn't the worst but my personal experience elevated it to an unforgettable one.

That comment about anime is interesting because if you ask a Japanese person what race Goku is, they'd say "Japanese, of course!" This is because anime characters tend to be stylised enough that Caucasians would think they look like themselves, partly because Oriental (I'm British so it's not racist) and Caucasians tend to have similar skin tones. Think Marge from The Simpson: she's Caucasian despite being yellow with blue hair.

Took me 8 years before I realized they did a callback to the opening of RE2. Leon tells Claire to get down before he shoots when they first meet in the airport just like their encounter at the diner in the game. Give Claire a break. Been a long time since Coder Veronica.

It's a Japanese culture thing for the weird body movements like Claire's duh expressions. They usually aim more on expressing the body than the voice itself. So that's why in some movies, animes and games you get that kind forced awkward nodding in confirmation motion or movement or for example when ones determined they put their fist in the air.

There was also a mobile tie-in game released for this movie that wasn't too bad, either. It was short, but pretty okay. It played a lot like Resident Evil 4 with settings similar to the dark, desolate, claustrophobic settings of the classic Resident Evil. Similar to what Revelations would do several years later.

Great review. pissed myself laughing through most of it and I agree with your points. It makes me crazy when zombies are shot in the chest and they wonder why they keep getting back up. Leon certainly had something stuck up his ass that turned him into an emotionless robot creature. Claire was bad ass at the start but then i dont know what the hell they did to her after that. I get to the part where she says "oh shit now whats going to happen" and turn it off lol. the end is just meh. I thought it was crazy that Leon and Angela were STILL standing in front of the burning house after all the nonsense Claire was doing with her tea party. I was like wow that building is still standing lol. I really wish they involved Claire way more in the last part of the movie. Such a waste. First half is quite good but kind of falls on its knees after.

The plot with Angela and her brother sounds similar to the plot of Dead Rising with Isabella and her brother who infect a small American town with a zombie virus to get the US government to admit their part in creating zombies that destroyed their village. As for the voice acting, let me be the first to put it out there. Alyson Court didn't EVEN TRY! She just probably grabbed the script and jut read out the lines, coupled with emotional delivery cues. She did a script read. The best voice actors in this were probably Roger Craig Smith and the GREAT Laura Bailey. Besides that, my friend, you missed out of A LOT of story in this movie. Fo instance, they referenced Resident Evil 4 with an Hunnigan Cameo (i.e Leon's last boihazard) but did you know they referenced Code Veronica as well? In fact, they referenced it at least TWELVE TIMES! But NO ONE caught them, surprisingly besides me, this LEGALLY BLIND man for some reason.

MY friend, are you out of your mind? Claire has the MOST SHOCKING character model. If Alyson Court's voice didn't come out of that woman, you can't say that is Claire Redfield. Didn't ANYONE notice that Claire became FAT? Hell it's even a joke in the yeti112 parody of Degeneration. and she's ONLY 26! Considering how slim she was in CVX (19 year old) why is she fat? Infact, watch this movie again, even her cheeks became puffy, she's put on that much weight. And... don't get me started on her jumbotron sized forehead in this one. At least in RE2 and CVX, her head didn't look that... weird. And this isn't just me, coz I'm legally blind. I showed my fully sighted friends and all of them say that she's put on LOT OF WEIGHT from CVX.
