Awesome video man. I did this in one sitting, and it was the last run that I needed to get the platinum. All of the other guides were ridiculous, no save/speed run/ no damage crap that I wasn’t interested in doing.

Thanks for this guide. Been following this guide atm on my first playthrough (easy mode), should've done normal mode. I would just recommend if you would had mention more save points or typewritter spots to an average gamer. I had to backtrack about 13-15 minutes after I died and ran out of ammo fighting the Plant 42 due to mistiming when to hit. I would just suggest that there is a save right before that fight, as you didn't mention it was an upcoming boss fight. Overall, the walkthrough has been extremely awesome so far.

For anyone who sees this comment, it is a good idea to make an extra save right before the plant 42 fight. After you get the bug spray and that key, go back and save an extra time. Also, if you're low on health Rebecca will heal you in the little lab room inside of #003 after the fight and Rebecca cutscene for free (Edit: this lets you be a little more reckless during the plant 42 fight since you have the save to go back to and the free heal afterwards).

I was gonna play this mode until I got to the first zombie that I’d normally kill on normal mode and realized there was no auto-aim, then immediately got attacked by a zombie hiding around a corner that I had no way of knowing would be there. No thanks man

@@vivacious9530 Real survival is like hard, enemies are tougher, deal more damage, but the main difference is the fact that the item boxes are no longer connected, you have to retrieve items from the same box you put them in the first place, so it requires a better planning than normal But it's actually a really cool mode to play, not as bad as it sounds

Hunter at 1:27:20 is totally harmless, you can walk straight past him. You don't need to waste your ammo on him, especially if you are skipping the magnum.

Odd tip on the crate conveyer ~1:46:00. If the machine complains about it not being paced properly, you can simply leave the room and re-enter and it will be placed properly for you. I've played both the Gamecube and PS4 versions of this I don't know how many times and that has never happened to me before this run.

You can also climb up on the crates in the corner. On the top is ammo! Only discovered this recently

My personal experience it is a waste to kill any zombie at the start of the game, until you obtain the lighter. Reasons ammo is extremely limited at the start and by the time any newbie finally does find the lighter, you'll have bunch of Crimson Heads, which makes your situation worse.

I've got merely a few trophies left (even done with unlocking rocket launcher and finished hard mode), but this mode still intimidates me somehow, would it be strategic way to use the eastern storage room as an HQ to store all the items in there? When you move from mansion to residence, you need not migrate the items since no ammo is necessary there, esp. you playing jill where you use v-jolt to take down plant 42; and also the entire underground part where you only need a granade launcher with fire rounds for black tiger, or even none if you are good at knifing spider webs; after you are done with the two hexagonal crests you might needa migrate a few essential objects (e.g. magnum if you have one, fuel canteen/lighter and some herbs maybe) to the lab entrance. I'm not sure whether these worked but seems the mode is less intimidating than it sounds

A major criticism I would have for this guide is if you intended this for the average person who just wanted to beat this extremely difficult mode, you should have included several more saves, especially when there were many parts where it would have been perfectly safe to do so.

After some classic RE experience this mode is way too easy. This is about 20% as hard as Resident Evil 2 Nightmare mode on Dreamcast or 50% as hard as Resident Evil Zero on Hard, so i wouldn't call this extremely difficult. And there are so many ink ribbons that you can save almost every time you see a typewriter

@@PDIcomics Yeah the original with Chris is great. It's so hard to kill the hunters without taking a lot of damage i found it's easier just to run past them and take less hits than trying to kill them with the shotgun.

@@epicon6 You can easily run past that one that one that spawns outside before the small garden shed because trying to kill that particular one seems like impossible bullshit without taking a ton of damage but if you ever need to run back into the mansion to get to the save room and item box and it’s still there you’ll likely take a hit. I don’t know what tf the deal is with that one particular one especially, but you just can’t seem to do anything about it but run past it.

You are supposed to take damage :) What i meant was when i played it last week i had to lead maybe 8 times because i was trying to clear my way to the other side of the mansion but kept dying because almost every hunter got 2 hits in before i got them killed, so i for frustrated and just ran there without killing them and took less damage that way even though they hit me a few times along the way there

The HD Remaster is missing a Real Survival Nightmare difficulty. I've added house rules that i can't use defense items, can't save on one typewriter more than once, can't burn zombies, can't use first aid sprays, can't use the knife. Tank controls only. But it's not the same thing like a Nightmare mode where the zombies didn't fall down as easy, more enemies, less ammo, less health, less saves, tougher bosses etc. The second to last tyrant falling after 6 magnum shots is an insult to all tyrants. Resident Evil 2 Dreamcast/PC release Nightmare mode is the only RE game that offers an enjoyable difficulty to experienced players. Zero is close but not hard enough.

I want to enjoy the atmosphere and read the notes so i always take as much time as i can. Speed running is the emptiest form of playing RE games (to me personally) I wish there was 20 different layouts in the game so items and enemies were in different places and that there was 8 different solutions to each puzzle so you would have to find the solutions. And that there was different versions like RE2 has Claire A and B and Leon A and B

Chris kind of sucks from a game mechanic standpoint. Grenades and higher damage resistance are his only perks, everthing else is crap. Less inventory slots, doesn't have a lock pick, tougher bosses, and he even gets Richards's superior shotgun later than Jill. Chris+Survial mode is basically Hardest difficulty, aside from Invisible enemy mode.
