@RisingApe Hi James. I just received my Reflex RS no PRM module and used PAS10 resin test printed cones of calibration. Initial setup was fine and build plate level test all ok. I have Saturn 4 Ultra and no experience with other resin printers (been in FDM many years building my own printers eons ago) so I don't know the usual sounds these fixed vats make for layers. For the first 13 layers the reflex RS made a rather loud noise when the build plate was ended descending into the vat just before exposure of new layers. Like two sounds a bit like stepper motor lose steps type sound and max force -244N. Sent a blueprint studio help ticket showing video with audio (and slice file and log file) to ask if such noises are normal. I wait for answer back. I printed the cones of calibration test print twice and same noises on first 13 layers each time. After the 13th layer the sounds disappeared and max forces on retraction to screen was about -100N. Completed the print and check screen and nfep for cracking damage etc no evidence of issues so printed again and again same sounds for first 13 layers or so... Exposure seems a little low or PAS10 can't keep the detail - 1st 2 success towers closest to skull are not linked and all failure towers broken. Sword fits in skull and other parts good to show exposure is ok... just feel a little underexposed. Wonder if anyway tried other print profiles to see how they change the exposure time and levels when using the resin PAS10. I see default slicer supports settings changes but don't know if correlates to more or less exposure times to use perhaps other settings when looking for more exposure. I see the firmware now includes bottom layer adjustment feature - not tested that as parts 1st layers stuck to plate so nicely. Any input? Are there any discord or groups for Heygears printers? Wow the PAS10 resin smell is much more pungent that SUNLU standard, Elegoo Standard etc. But as I use machine vented (in a grow tent it is easier to heat printer in Canada - have heated vat but trying same setup I use for Saturn 4 Ultra) outside through carbon filter and always use mask with volatiles filters.
@RisingApeАй бұрын
Hi, thanks for the detailed response, the noise isn’t normal I have had other printers do this to me and it disappeared, possibly grease on the ball screw? Run another print and see what happens but yes absolutely flag it with HG by filming tickets through blueprint. I would absolutely use the heated vat though an enclosure heater will not give accurate heating and the temperature will have a huge impact on the exposure needed. As for discords there is mine, or the HG Facebook group
@SeanMcChannelАй бұрын
@@RisingApe Thank you so much for reply. I doubted such sounds are to be considered normal to logged issue in Blueprint. Heygears tech rep in Blueprint said the max Force of -244N is within max range which is -250N - at which point the machine would stop with error code. I will post a short video clip of the sound the RS had made on new base layers on my YT channel. I have built and used many FDM printers but this is my second resin after Saturn 4 Ultra. So I was uncertain if such a noise should be ok. Does not sound right to me. Last night I emptied and cleaned the resin tray again as I had planned to do a machine build plate level test check and perhaps try again. Perhaps I will try again with the unopened new heated resin tray I ordered with the printer. Or just return this printer and look at other options for another resin printer to add to my Saturn 4 ultra. Thanks.

@RisingApe3 ай бұрын
As far as I am aware the RS is aiming at a more limited range of resins. The more advanced resins won’t be supported on the RS only the Reflex
@calilifestyle3 ай бұрын
@RisingApe thank you so much. I had the same thought, but I figured if you can pick up the pulse/heater as an add-on, then maybe they would allow those resins. I feel like it's an oversight. It seems like the printer is more than capable of using those resins. It really just doesn't make sense.
@jaym23814 ай бұрын
At about 4:10 you mention the auto-mixing. I either saw in another person's video or in a writted summary that the RS doesn't have this function, which I figured was disappointing, even though the heated vat is an optional extra. Did I misunderstand and what was on your video was actually about the original Reflex, or does the RS also have the mix?

This printer will probably be the one that brings me into 3d printing. I'm one of those coming into the printing space that really doesn't want to have to deal with 3rd party resins. Give me preconfigured settings and let me just print (I can see third party resins coming to the party here with qr codes on the bottle that download the right settings for the correct printer. That would get me to consider purchasing those resins. It feels like all of this should be handled via the slicing hardware but maybe i'm just familiar with this yet).
@RisingApe4 ай бұрын
Absolutely that’s what i want from printers too, I want my printer to work like my TV, turn it on, it works, done. Plenty of folks love to tinker though so there are other machines for them.
@BenleGentil4 ай бұрын
I don’t know much about resin printer, but Bambu tried hard to push their filament, have us use platic spool etc. The experience using third party plastic has been great and once you’ve calibrated your filament once it’s pretty much good to go. Also once enough people buy their product, you start to have some sort of leverage on the cie (ie using your bambulabs offline) or they risk loosing their customer base.

Is this comparable to GK3, better, worse?
@RisingApe3 ай бұрын
Cants say directly yet as not had a gK3 but the build volume on the GK3 is huge so it depends what you are printing. Basically the reflex will be easier to use and the GK3 will print bigger stuff
@WhiteWulfe4 ай бұрын
It's nice to see more coming from them, but oof, resin loads from the back. I can see the appeal of this kind of machine, but I suspect for the time being I'll stick with what I currently have as $20-25 CAD per liter/kilogram of resin is a lot easier on the wallet.
@RisingApe4 ай бұрын
Yeh I can see the resin loading being an issue for you, in a tent. You can obviously just pour it in too though. And there is a new cheaper PAS resin coming too, $32.99

One of the things that is kinda annoying me about this printer is that you cannot choose which resin tank you get by default when you purchase the printer. I understand the idea of not forcing people that don't need a heated resin tank to pay for one. Fair point. But in my case (and many other people, I believe), I need a heated resin tank most of the time, so I would have to pay for an extra accessory while the one that comes by default with the printer would just sit in a shelf gathering dust for most of the year. Why not make it optional upon purchase and adjust the price accordingly like they do with the pulsing release module? Cheers and thanks for all the content!
@RisingApe4 ай бұрын
That’s a really good point, I will bring it up with them. Thanks for the comment

@@RisingApe Thanks for that! I'm replacing an Anycubic 6K with a broken LCD and this printer is ticking almost all the boxes for me. I'm now trying to decide between the RS and the GK3. Trying to decide if the ease of use/no need to tweak resin settings of the RS outweights the bigger build plate of the GK3. Being able to get the heated tank by default would be a plus on the RS side :) Cheers

It's a cool product aimed at people who just want to print stuff with minimal hassle and are ok with paying a bit more for the ability to do so. If you like it then you can buy it, and if you don't then you can buy something else. What's the problem?

This! I make reviews as I see them about things I think are cool. As I have said multiple times before my hobby is painting minis. Printers are a tool to get me there, ideally as fast as I can with as little effort as possible, this printer ticks a lot of boxes on that score.

I gotta say I really like the sound of this printer. Phrozen has been my goto for 3d printing for my business, due to their general reliability. But the recent Revo is a mess of unusable extra features. The fact they aren't even jumping on the 14k bandwagon is also nice. I'm currently not in the market for any replacements or additions to my farm just yet, but Heygears could be a new environment I might work towards.

Sorry but no resign is worth $800 anymore. It’s almost 2025 and Resign has fallen to the FDM market. I understand they have a new “revolutionary” set n go machine but it needs to be competitive at the $400 - $500 range. Especially with its build size. The printer market is really competitive and this falls short with that price range. If it was $499 this would be one of the best printers in the market. But at $799 it’ll be forgotten in a year.

It’s just aimed at a different segment of the market. There are already lots of good machines at that price point.

Reviewer is critical and reviews a product negatively: "Wow! They're so unbiased!" "They say it how it is!" Reviewer praises a product: "Must be a shill" "Paid hack." "Blink twice if the CCP is in the room with you." I'm not saying I'm for or against Heygears' closed ecosystem. But just because an ecosystem is closed doesn't mean it is suddenly a bad product, and anything nice said about it must be fake. If it's not for you, don't buy it. Simple as that. I don't like closed ecosystems, so I don't buy Apple products. I don't crap on people who say they love iPhones.

This is a sponsired video. Sont oreficw thinga witg saying that they did not pay you. This is a paid advertisement where you were considerably rewarded for presenting the printer in a good way. If you do it well they will send you the next. That is how this works. This means your opinion is skewed to be positive. You also get a commission on sales so an incentive to convince people. The printer deems like a 4/5 but a 2/5 due to being a closed ecosystem and cery expensive spare parts. Absolute dealbreaker. NOT a good choice in my opinion.

There is no way to remove bias entirely from any system but this video was NOT sponsored, you can see from my other reviews that if I think a printer isn't good, I will say so (M7) its just, like all Heygears kit not aimers at the lower end of the hobby printer market, thats the Elegoo, which is also great but a very different machine. regardless thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts
